I’ve done it before where I’ve read the book and not seen the movie of it. 20 years ago I would have thought it inconceivable for me to miss the movie ( I read The Hunt for Red October and couldn’t wait for the movie) but I’ve since done it with a few books.
I love George R R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire and have waited patiently for it to start on HBO here in Asia instead of downloading it. It starts on August 28th here.
What next, the cast from Time Bandits will do the next Expendables?

My issue is primarily with Cruise’s size. I honestly do think he’s a good actor…but I can’t accept him playing the role of a guy who is 6’5, 250. It’s too much for me to look past. There are plenty of bigger actors out there who could have filled this role so much better. I personally was hoping Liev Schreiber would have been cast for the part. I mean…unless there is some serious movie magic (a la The Lord of the Rings) I just don’t see how this is gonna work.

They are just going to fuck up the screen play, what makes Reacher “Reacher” will not be there. This is just a bastardized version of Mission Impossible and running dont forget the running. Cruise has to run fucking somewhere in a scene.

Well his mother was European so maybe Reacher has a less provincial view on man sex than most of the marines I have ever known. 
Its not even his look that bothers me its more the attitude. And for me this is for more figures than just Reacher. Bond for example I loved Connery and I liked Brosnan.
If this film could have been made years ago …heh before it was written…I would have loved a Clint Eastwood.
I hope the new book takes a turn though. Beating up Cornhusker football players just didn’t do it for me like international drug dealers trying to get old air force smack.

Well he’s not a big enough name to have creative control over the movie. Someone like Ellison has written it in to some of his contracts if he thought there was a chance they were going to really butcher something. I am sure they bought options on all the books for some obscene fee plus a monthly to maintain it as well.

Yes he may not be big enough to have creative control, however they just cant make the movie without his permission and compensation.
So they had to pitch it to him that he we are going to totally fuck up your books and not use anybody resembling your creation. Here is millions of dollars and dont say shit.
