Looks like it could be just a few weeks away. Can’t wait to get back in. Will be interesting to see how many new rules for use there are. Expecting it to be mad busy
Yeah, I did too - Virginia’s gyms have been open for like a month now. Surprisingly, it was VERY scarce at first, and has SLOWLY made it’s way back to a bit less than what it was. If you’re solely at a powerlifting gym maybe it’ll be different, but there are a LOT of old people and people with compromising conditions at commercial gyms, and a lot of people who are just plain scared and don’t want to go inside a big petri dish. The low volume of people has been very nice, actually.
I’m actually at a super commercial 24 hour gym, so fingers crossed it keeps away all but the most dedicated people. Worst case I can go very early or late
Is that an option? I also lift at a super commercial gym, and in the small print of the email I had the other day is that opening hours are changing to, basically, eliminate any chance inhad of lifting there.
My gym implemented it’s own “phased” opening, like the states are doing. It first was only open Monday-Friday 9-7. Then it opened up on the weekends for a few hours. Then it went full hours and brought back the daycare, with the kids having to sanitize their hands and have temperature checks before coming in.
As I said - you can pretty much take out 90% of the people over 60 and anybody with a compromising condition from your commercial gym, and then take out any healthy people who are just scared or overly cautious. It’s possible, with how this has been going longer in Britain, that people will flock back to the gyms, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It’s like when they opened playgrounds back up here - we didn’t take our kids for 2 weeks because we were worried about kids being everywhere, but 2 weeks later we went to a playground that’s usually teeming with kids and we were literally the only people there. There are still no more than a couple families every time we go now.
