There’s no such thing as hook grip PRs lol.
The pain in my thumbs today begs to disagree
Ur meant to desensitise yourself to pain. U heard the pain theorem where firing up that pain pathway repeated is no bueno like in back pain yeah?
I’ve not heard that no.
Well i only did one rep at 210 with hook, it hurt so I did the rest of the workout mixed. Isn’t that the point? Doing the warmups until they hurt, and over time they stop hurting?
It definitely made the rep more difficult, I think mostly because Im thinking about my hands rather than the set-up and pull, but I imagine it becomes second nature eventually.
Over time you don’t even think about setting the grip anymore. Sure, takes a few seconds, but it’ll feel natural.
Give it a month or so, it’ll go away
I mean don’t push too much into the pain if at all.
I’m just being a pussy, It wasn’t that bad lol, they jsut feel a little bruised if I press on the nail today.
Oh yeah, it acually bugs me more the day after than the day itself lol
Haven’t logged this weeks workouts, all boring deload stuff, light doubles and tripples really.
3 doubles at 230kg last night, flew up pretty easy.
Weighed in 85kg (187.5) today, so two days to drop 2.5kg / 5.5lb. Obviously haven’t started cutting water yet, and a little bit of glycogen left to lose I think. Think I’ll be fine come weigh in, but it will be closer than in the past I think.
So I just went back and checked my weight loss in my last prep. I started 6lb lighter, but I overshot the weight class by 4.5lb so I’m maybe not at far away as I think.
24 hours out I was 184.8. 187 today so hopefully I’ll be close to 185 tomorrow and can relax a touch.
Huh, would you look at that.
24 hours out and I’m exactly 184.8 again. 3lb to go.
from 87.5 to 83 within a week. Impressive bro, Makes me question why the fuck im even in a deficit at the moment lmao
5kg is not the same thing as 10 lol, every extra gram becomes exponentially harder, but you definitely don’t need to cut all the way down. You’d probably be at a disadvantage of you did.
How do you figure what class you want to compete in, I have a problem where I’m naturally with an OK diet at best around 240 pounds +/- 5 pounds either way depending on the week.
I think in may when I’m competing to just go down to 220 to be more competitive but wondering If there’s a formula or just from feeling is this based?
I hope that makes sense.
Good lifting today man, enjoy it.
Thanks man, 24 hour weigh in, so only lifting tomorrow, but today is the hard part. Still 2 hours until I can eat or drink
There are a few guides out there that will give you a safe % of bodyweight to lose depending on your weigh in. If you have a 2-4 hour weigh in, it’s something like 3% of your bodyweight. With 24hour weigh in it’s around 8%. 240 to 220 isn’t uncommon, would be very doable if you dropped 5lb in advance with the rest left for the last week.
Thank you, I plan to diet down to closer to 220 anyways… im a large man but soft around the belly and little extra I wouldn’t mind losing for aesthetics as long as my strength holds up.
Good luck btw
Boom. Weighed in at 81.5kg (181)
88.5 (195) down to 81.5 in exactly one week. I didn’t have to do any hyperthermia treatments, but this is probably as far as I’d want to take it in future for cutting weight. I was very unhappy yesterday lol
Did you just go for a harsh deficit?
