I've Got A Bar And I'm Not Afraid To Use It - Pinkylifting Log

Weigh in this AM and im down to 190.5.

1RM test day. Time to see how much strength I’ve lost on this cut.

Not sure what to expect on Bench or Deads, might be able to PR on squat though. Reaping those noob gains.

Squat Pr please sir

Videos or it didn’t happen

Ill try but my gym has a no camera / video rule.

Im still pretty new tho so Ill plead ignorance.

As long as you have something more subtle than a golden tripod camera set up with a full lighting studio you’ll be alright

I prop my phone up on my water bottle. Surely they won’t catch that. Don’t you have an app on your phone that you use to track your workout?

If they ask then just show them that and say you’re logging your sets.

PB City up in here. I love Boris Sheiko

Where’s the 300 fail?

Why would I film a bar not moving at all while I make constipation faces?

Do it can be made into a GIF lol

Serious though so we can see where and how you fail and like where your weaknesses are

Good point, Ill film it next time.

I was also using straps so too much cheater to be worth filming

As if you didn’t film it. That’s some pretty critical info we’ve missed now. If we knew what was up when you fail at near maxes then you could fix it like pick lots of assistance work that hammers that weakness.

Opportunity wasted

Ha Thanks.

A well done on 3 PB’s will do next time

No bench video… what bench PB?

Did you just congratulate yourself lol

I think squat looked too easy for a PB and it’s kinda low compared to your other lifts too

Psch Bench is too easy. Who even cares? 165 went up pretty easy tbf, had more in me for sure.

Probably had more squat in me, but was saving juice for Bench and Deadlift PB’s, also still a bit of a squat noob so don’t really know where my ‘limit’ is, or what rpe10 actually feels like, or what it feels like to fail and get nailed under the bar lol.

Squat looks good. Mayb rethink opening at 190

Rethink upwards? Or safer for first ever comp lift?

Whatever strat yields the highest total. Your opener depends on a lot of things but mostly knowing yourself well and having past meet experience lel

I remember your goal being to set a record or something might be mistaken was a long time ago. If you want the biggest total then this is worth talking about. If you want a good first meet to build on then just go with the generic recommendations.

Pre much you can sandbag squats/take bigger jumps/only take two attempts/open with last warm up to conserve as much energy as possible for bench and deadlift. This works if the other two are your better lifts and/or squat is shitty. If you do the math and it comes out you’d total more going big in DL and bench vs going somewhat big across the board…tbh it’d probably be pretty close anyways.

Remember you’re gonna be tapered/peaked going into the meet so you should perform better than today maybe much better depending on how you respond.

Go big or go home… open at 101% lol

I’ve been told the opener is about confidence and getting into the meet vs using exact %s

What number would you be confident of hitting like under the worst circumstances?

Pretty confident I could hit the bench and deadlift openers on a mediocre day. Problem with squat is I still don’t have the confidence in my technique, but maybe 190 is a little conservative.

The 205 was probably a ‘safe’ lift, but its a weight I can imagine misgroving and failing, where I could probably salvage a misgroved 190.

A lot of squat volume over the next few weeks though so maybe I can dial it in and open at 205 with 220 as a second with room for another PB if I feel good on the day.

Indeed, current record in the raw no wraps is 220 / 160 / 260 and 615 for total.

As a tangential query, im currently exactly 4kg above weight class, with a 24 hour weigh-in, is it still worth me losing more weight or can I maintain from here and confidently lose the 4kg with a deplete and mild water cut?

Read a lot about people doing 10% cuts but I have no idea how extreme those really are, and I’m not planning on using diuretics or a sauna or anything like that.
