I’ve had a hard time turning my brain off lately. Im kind of in the middle of a career switch as well as a relocation so my brain is scrambled. Sooo today I just decided to go for a little jog to think things over. 8 miles later, I am home. Ha! but I DO feel better. It spit rain the whole time which I kinda like and ended up near these bluffs so I did a fair amount of hills on this run…in faaaact…heres a view from what I think was my highest point…soo purdy.
FOOD thus far (not done):
M1)3/4 cup cottage cheese mixed with 1 container of carb master yogurt* +fish oil
M2)5oz chicken breast
1 cup green beans with slivered almonds
M3) 1 scoop whey + glutamine + 1/2 banana
*Im cutting these two things out of my diet…so this little meal finished the rest of my supply in this off.
EDIT: wrong picture…thats from a while back when I ran this trail…but same place.
i love visiting new gyms, too. figuring out what toys they have and keeping an eye out for new and interesting things to do.
i’m starting to find it hard to keep my presses strict, too. hard to resist the urge to give them just a smidgen of leg drive to help them on their way. you do have a nice press, though!
cottage cheese mixed with yoghurt… hmm… does that help with the texture much? i don’t at all mind the taste of cottage cheese but i can’t stand the chunky texture.
Alexus–its just so scary to try to force weight overhead sometimes! At least with momentum, i know I have it. Oh well…we will keep fighting that battle
The cottage cheese/yogurt combo kinda makes the texture smoothER, but not smooth.lol there is still some chunks for sure. (Okay, so I totally see why the texture might gross you out when I write it that way. EW.) I dont mind the texture, but cottage cheese isnt doing me any favors. Out it goes.
how isn’t it doing you any favors? i wish i could like it because of the protein. have taken the first step in my goal of better nutrition by eating at least 200g of protein per day (actually it will be more like 250g). have a ‘must eat either these or things i sub’ and working on my subs because otherwise i’ll probably get tin poisoning or whatever from all those cans.
i don’t have a fear of pressing. have learned that my arms will stall out for a good couple seconds - but i can still get the press if i’m determined to. worse case it will lower very slowly indeed and i have time to pull my face out the way and drop it to my delts. does strict pressing freak you a bit??
i wonder if you could get a spotter or something so you figure how your arms work when they fail?? i’ve always worked overhead pressing really hard because when i started i thought it was bad that that was my weakest lift. train them to failure most time i train them.
Unfortunately, I think I have developed some sort of lactose intolerance! I will spare you details but it ain’t no good. Pretty sad because I love cottage cheese.
Standing barbell strict press is still pretty scary, but i feel better if I have bumpers so if something goes wrong, I can ditch the weight. I have bumpers in my garage, as well as an oly bar, but not much else so i don’t do much in there but form work. The gym I’m currently at is a typical commercial gym, so no bumpers.
I had to REALLY talk myself out of bed this morning. I am trying to get all my research done right now so I woke up at 3:30 to hit the gym at 4 and get to work at 5:30. Thank god its a straight shot. After I have myself a little pep talk, I did the following:
Worked for a few hours, got a little fuel in the machine, went back over my lunch hour and hit bench
barx15
65x10
75x10
90x5
105x3
115x4
120x3! (rep PR!) The third one was slooooooow. Im fairly certain this is my three rep max in its truest form.
Superset…
B1)DB Bench 40x12x5
B2)Freemotion Lat Pull down 100lbsx10x5
Awwww thank MiM!!I am trying to stop being so reckless with my diet/exercise and keep track of what I do when. I just accepted a job (officially on Friday ) as a conditioning coach for the college I got my undergrad at. Im suuuper excited and feel like I need to bring my A game. I’d love to lean up a bit and keep my strength gains from the 531 that I’m getting.
Thanks MiM! I was kind of a multi-purpose part of the athletic department when i was getting my masters and LOVED it then, but thought that playing gym all day wasnt really what adults do. So I took a dive into research, hated it, and luckily they had a full time gig open that was right up my alley. Im pretty stoked.
Hmmmmm…I dunno, but i’ll give it a try! Tnation takes over!
Where did you get that puppy? I have some acquaintances with the very same degree…im not sure where they got it, though. Some work booking events, a couple work on the business side of like…not sports things. One of them works with the St. Louis cardinals doing something…I am not sure what, though.
I’m not sure what either. I had time to kill so I got it through University of Phoenix(online) I wanted to say that I ‘earned my degree,’ so I didn’t care what it was at the time.
