Interesting that he told you to stop limping. Is that because it’s an unnatural gait?
Son is a dead ringer for you, only with crazy hair. I’d ask you what position he played but I’m a warm weather guy and know nothing at all about the sport. You guys look so happy in that pic.

So have you put off the not posting for a while?[/quote]
I was going to stop for a spell. Since I have nothing exciting to log. But several people encouraged me to continue. So when I have something to report, I will.
For the most part, I am just learning how to walk properly right now. The only way I can explain it is that it feels like someone else’s foot has been attached to me and I have to learn how to use it naturally and properly. Quite difficult to not guard and form bad habits.
I’m still prohibited from any serious training. Come springtime, that will change.
Your right its hard not to guard a injury. I was talking to a friend that was having foot problems and as part of his later rehab the Doc have him doing alot of stuff on a bosu to get back the fine muscle coordination and accessory muscle strength. He said these had the greatest affect on his recovery, in the later stages. Nice work above and Nice family Pic.
Yeah, you learned a new way of walking and moving with the injury. Now it’s time to unlearn all that and go back to the original way. I know rehab’s a bitch, but it’s necessary.
Checking in . . . busy week with physical therapy yesterday, getting analyzed for custom orthotics today, and a visit with my surgeon tomorrow.
All is going well. I can’t say that I’m walking like a runway model. But then again, I never did.
I’m still training, but I’ve had to curtail some of my more impressive work, like the pistols. I was creating a terrible imbalance by making one leg so much stronger than the other. During my gait/posture analysis today, the orthotist (guy who designs custom orthotics) told me that my good leg is doing too much of the work when I walk and supporting 75% of my weight when I’m just standing. “Stop that,” he said, “or else you’ll tip over when you squat.” So I’m largely doing unilateral machine work at the gym and trying to get my weaker leg to catch up. Got a long ways to go!
Probably the best news I have to report is that my coach successfully squatted on Monday. Some of you may remember that he irreparable damaged his shoulder in November and has been unable to get the rotation to hold the bar. He’s a very determined man. Got under the bar on Monday morning and worked up to a triple at 250 lb. Not bad for a 72-year-old. He’s already planning a strategy to compete at USAPL Masters Nationals in May and make a bid for the IPF World Team.

I remember when I was rehabbing my knee blowout that they made a huge deal of that. Helped me to heal a lot faster and better though that I (strangely) paid attention and listened.
Good luck, injuries are no fun. Smashing PR’s after them is though.
