It's a Snap

Snap,

Good luck, I hope it goes smoothly.

How is everything going? anything I can do to help?

sorry about the foot, but you will come back stronger

Sorry to hear about the foot Snap!

You’ll be back in no time. We’re all sure of it.

I’m very sorry to hear about your foot. How long did it take to recover when you had surgery on your foot last time?

Hey Snap, sorry to hear about the foot but it sounds like something that won’t keep you down for long. Five steps forward, one step back, etc. It sounds like it’s something that you know can be fixed though so that has to be really positive news.

Smolov bench sounds like a winner! Also sounds like a great time to get good at pull ups…

Speaking of injuries, how’s your coach doing?

james

Congratulations on your DL pr. I’m really sorry to read about your foot. All the best on Thursday.

Injuries suck. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I’m sure everything will go fine on Thursday. It’s hard to say how long the recovery will take. I had my other foot fixed five years ago. But the procedure is different this time. And while I was lifting hard and heavy when I had my last surgery, I was more focused on running and racing at the time. So my primary goal then was to get back to that, which I believe took about six months.

Regarding my coach, he saw my shoulder surgeon, who told him he essentially has no shoulder left. Nearly all of the tendons are detached and retracted beyond fixing. His shoulder is essentially being held together by bone spurs, arthritis, and the random tendon that’s still intact. Nothing can be done for him at this time. If he could only get the external rotation back to squat . . .

I’ll be checking in from time to time.

Happy holidays to all of you and train hard.

god that sucks about your coach.

on a brighter note, Merry Christmas My Snap! I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow!..panting my toes lucky green in your honor as well.

I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow and sending successful foot-fixing karma.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Ill be thinking good thoughts for your surgery tomorrow, hang tuff and be sure to stop in and visit us.

Best of luck for the op and really sorry to hear about your coach. I hope there’s something that can be done for him.

I think I speak for many on here that he’s become a bit of a ‘cult’ hero for us. An amazing role model. We all hope that we can still be kicking it like him at that age.

Here’s hoping he can at least mend enough to squat.

What about the deadlift?

Put your feet up (pun intended) and have a great holiday.

Best of luck Snap.

Hopefully your coach will be able to squat or pull again.

Snap - Nothing but love for you today!

sending some holiday cheer to both you and your coach Snap…

Thinking about you today, good luck with the foot surgery.’

Just checking in to see how the foot surgery went yesterday.

Thanks for checking in, everyone!

Surgery was a success. My foot is now being held together with one screw, one plate, and one pin. Feeling very good. Haven’t even had to break into the serious meds, which I don’t care for anyways. I did some situps last night and some unweighted leg lifts. Wow, that was exhausting! I won’t be weightbearing for six weeks since a number of joint fusions were done with the goal of providing a stable base again. I’ll resume my logging when I’m doing something of serious consequence, which will probably be March. My plan is to compete next July at the Rocky Mountain State Games in Colorado Springs.

And thanks for all of the concern about my coach. He’s very determined to make a bid for the IPF world team again this year, even though he can’t (yet) squat and gave up his Inzer sponsorship. After the doctor told him that he was irreparable and done lifting, my coach went home and ordered two new sets of knee wraps for squatting. Truly, this attitude is what keeps him young and in the game.

I look forward to catching up on all your logs, following your progress, and playing armchair quarterback for awhile.

Happy holidays to all of you.
