Thanks for setting the deadlift bar higher, damn you!
Do you know if the women are lifting on Saturday or Sunday? I didn’t see the schedule yet.

Saturday. Weigh-ins at 8 am. Lifting at 10 am. If you really want to compete, you can probably petition to do so on Sunday with the men. I can be there to help you if you decide to go that route. Will miss you on Saturday.
Today’s training was very solid. Squatting felt great. Damn, I love to squat.
Squat
5/45
5/75
3/95
2/110
1/125 belt
3/135
3/140
3/145 knee wraps
Paused Squats . . . 3-second count in the hole
2/3/110
Loved these. Have never done them before! It’s a great challenge to stay tight and keep knees out/chest up. Will video these next week.
Situps on incline bench with 10-lb. weight behind head
3/10/10
Stepups to high bench with very slow eccentric
2/8/20
Rolled my ankle twice (?) coming down on third set so called it a day with these.
Cuff Rolls
3/15/5
RDLs
8/45
5/95
3/8/135
A) Kneeling Facepulls
3/9/75
B) Leg Extension Machine
3/8/70
Haven’t done these in forever. I’ll feel them tomorrow.
My 10-year-old daughter on beam. She placed with this routine. Many of the girls don’t have poise yet or can’t land their cartwheel.
Hockey tournament for my son all week.
Wow, she’s really improving fast. Good mothering, mommy Snap.

Thanks, I’ll wait til March, anyway. Do you need your singlet? I noticed you said the one you are using is large. Please text me how your competing goes!
Solid, solid training in here. Its so good to hear you sound excited again! I sure wish I could say that I’ve turned my deadlift into a leg exercise instead of a back exercise. Sadly, not yet but you are inspiring me.
Those chinups are great. You are way ahead of me on those.
Wow I love the beam routine! She has really beautiful lines. Is that the level 5 routine?
hard to believe she is only 10!
and yes, more squatting fun !
Snap, how long did it take you to be comfortable under a straight for squatting after surgery? I can do it, but the it is so much of a stretch I can only rep 2-3 times before I have to rerack it. and of course, the heavier the weight, the more it “hurts”. After I uncurl myself from under the bar and shake my arm a bit it feels fine, until I get under the bar again. It also looks like my “good” shoulder is higher than my bad shoulder…guess that would be normal until I build more muscle up there again.
your daughter is beautiful to watch: very graceful and confident.
Your daughter looks poised and beautiful. It must be a lot of fun watching her develop skill like that.
btw, I can’t wait to see how you make out at the meet.
yeah, she is beautiful to watch. very long legs! you certainly wouldn’t get me doing anything like that on a beam (or the floor lol). luck with your meet!
She is beautiful to watch, I concur! Was that you whopping in the end of vid! Proud Mama.
Your tapping into your Snap strength now, love how your energy is flowing!

Yep. Level 5.

I do recall this being a big issue. In fact, my shoulder still rebels from the external rotation required to squat. I think I was squatting full strength at six months post-surgery. A lot of people widen their grip to put less strain on their shoulders. But I like to be in tight.
I benched Wednesday. I did fine but my coach did not. His right shoulder totally gave out while wearing a Ram. The bar nearly missed his face. Somehow, I was able to get my hands on it and rack it. But he’s suspecting a cuff tear. So similar to what happened to me.
Today was DL practice day. My meet is eight days away. So I worked up to my first and second attempts.
RDL
8/45
5/95
Modified Sumo DL
5/115
4/135
3/155
2/175
1/190
1/205 first attempt
1/220 second attempt and USAPL state record if I can do it next weekend on the platform
I was pissy after the pull. I felt like my form was really off. Way in front of the bar. Pulled with my back. But I locked it out. I guess I expected it to come up faster and give me more wiggle room for a third attempt. I’m really having a hard time being explosive with sumo.
Finished up with 10/135.
Played with front squats. Nothing to report here. They’re not my strength.
Seated lat pulldown, weighted hypers, arnold presses, cable cuff external rotation, HLRs. Used a much slower leg descent. Went well. Did 3 x 6.
Plan to squat Monday. Looking forward to that. Then a pretty quiet week until Saturday.
It seemed like you spent a lot of time over the bar. Do you do that normally.
I think what you said earlier is true, once you break it off the floor you’re golden!
Sumo really isn’t a lift to be explosive with, at least not off the floor. I’m only explosive on lighter weights and at lockout at med weights. Heavy is well, just heavy. Don’t overthink it.

With sumo, unfortunately yes.

Good advice. Stop overanalyzing and just lift the weight. I’m used to the weight moving pretty quickly off the floor with conventional. There’s a definite delay between when I start the pull and the bar starts moving with sumo.
I agree with Vicky in that the bar leaves the floor a bit more slowly with sumo. That’s why I find it ideal for geared lifting; you get the pop off the floor and a shorter lock out.
When’s the meet?
