It's a Snap

nothing wrong with Brute strength  and technical skills should be repected! why is it that people think dl’s are the big ultimate display? just out of curiousness I’d like to know.

I’d say squats are more impressive myself and benching is a more technical lift of the three in my experience and my opinion.

as for a spectator sport, I would find it incredibly loooooooooooooooong and boring to watch a meet if i wasn’t a lifter myself. I don’t ask anyone to stay for a meet. its like being at a graduation ceremony for a state college.

oh!
So Snap you ARE doing the state meet? if so are you gearing up? If you’ve said so before, sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting discussion. Funny because I find sumo more interesting to watch because of the technique required. It’s much prettier than conventional, I believe. But I’ve never really thought of the lifts from a spectator standpoint. I must be weird, but I love watching meets.

And yes, Brute, I’m doing the State Games.

Very solid on that 212, nice work.

and those rb squats are huge.
good accessory work

very impressive session

Nicely done on that squat.

Today was a really positive training experience. Mostly because my shoulder felt really stable and pain-free, which isn’t usually the case.

Then seated rear delt machine (first time I’ve been able to do this machine without pain), standing lat pulldown, and lateral DB raise.

Tomorrow is squats. Love that shit.

NO PAIN IS GREAT!!!

Very nice job on the squats. Don’t you find it feels weird putting gear on after being out for a while?

Nice squat sanp, looked strong.

Yeah. So after all that bragging about how great my shoulder felt . . .

Yesterday it was killing me. And the bicep and the forearm. I was able to douse the pain with some ibuprofin. But I think the culprit is painting. I’ve just started painting the trim in our living room. I think the precision required and the holding our of my arm really strains my shoulder. How pathetic is that?

I’m going to see my ART magician this afternoon. Gotta deal with the tendonitis that’s been worsening over the past few weeks.

If it makes you feel any better, my elbow and shoulder hurt quite a bit when I sew. It’s the repetitive movement and twisting of my arm. They never bother me training.

I keep trying to deflect any home projects, such as laying pavers, painting, sanding, etc on the premise it just might mess with my lifting. This isn’t going over real well…

Think of the pavers as HIIT and the sanding as steady state cardio.

Great work !

that squat was poetry - beautiful on the depth.

I really love to watch you squat. 212! Very nicely done.

Take it easy on that painting. Injuries can happen in the strangest ways. How’s this for pathetic: I fell asleep on the couch two nights ago, and when I woke up my right knee (the uninjured one) hurt like I’d been sleeping on it twisted. Ridiculous!

Looking good!

You look a lot more confident under the heavier weights than you did a few weeks back. Is that down to the reverse band stuff?

Yes, I think the heavy reverse band squats really help train my CNS. I do feel more confident with the heavy weights. Also, my coach talked to me about getting committed to the lift before you even approach the bar. It makes a difference to have made that mental commitment.

Well. The verdict from my ART guy is that neither the supraspinatus nor infraspinatus (rotator cuff muscles)are firing. Fuckers. Half of my rotator cuff isn’t working, which is putting tremendous strain on the tendons that are working as well as my bicep and forearm muscles/tendons. The good news is that I’m compensating quite well. Doing exercises that are supposed to target a specific muscle without using that muscle at all! How’s that for supreme talent!

So. He worked my shoulder hard. The crepitus is so bad and so painful and he just kept working it. Moving stuff around. Stretching it. Overstretching it. And I gotta say, I feel so much better tonight. My ART guy wants me to come in several times a week for awhile to have him work it since the rehab exercises just aren’t doing the trick. Here’s the crazy thing: he said he wouldn’t even charge me. Huh?

`

So - he’s really just masochistic and you are his favorite victim???

How do you like this storm we’re having?

DO IT

I would jump on free body work or chiropractic

home projects can take a toll
I painted a bunch of stuff with a brush- and my tendinitis was on fire.

So glad you’re getting some relief.

Sometimes people do things that give one hope for humanity. He must really believe it needs to be done.

KEEP that art guy!
