I really want to see the video of the DL challenge.
Sumo form isn’t super easy for me to hold doing lots of reps. Although, I haven’t actually tried pulling more than 5 reps of anything lately…hmmm.
Today.

Having the hardest time keeping up with everyone’s logs. Thought I’d have more time with the kids back to school. But, alas, it appears not to be the case.

Out of curiosity, how did you pick 155?

Slow squats from today. [/quote]
To me, it looked a little like you were sitting down more than back on those squats. (but I like to sit waaay back so sometimes my judging is skewed). Maybe that’s why they seemed to move slow? Because you didn’t take advantage of those glutes and hammies as much as you normally do?
I came to check on the deadlift challenge progress and I’m sad that I have to wait 2 more days. I don’t have that kind of patience.

Funny you should ask. A thread on PW about a girl repping 155 for two minutes straight. The challenge is 155 lb. regardless of BW. I called foul on that since I think BW should be taken into account and the girl weighs in the 160s. It’s the equivalent of me repping 105 or something. Anyways I was told to shut my trap and play with the big girls. So I’m going to. No way I can compete with her or Buckeye Girl. But I’d be damn proud to hit 20 reps.

Yes, I think so. When the weight gets heavy, I tend to move my stance in and sit down more than back. Thanks for noticing. I must stop doing that.

For this particular challenge I think you are right with your body weight argument. I get annoyed with the relative strength stuff sometimes because I think it gets used as an excuse to be weak but in something like high rep deadlifts body weight can make a huge difference.
Regarding the 155 for reps…I can see it both ways. On one hand, it makes sense to make it a % of one’s BW. That would make it more “fair” to lighter lifters instead of favoring the bigger, stronger girls.
But on the other hand, if it was a pullup challenge, I wouldn’t expect the girls lighter than me to have to do them with added weight, or want to be able to use a band for assistance because I’m heavier. The challenge, as it was set up, was to see who could do the most. Period. You work with what ya got.
Snap, you’re a powerlifter. If you want to “compete” with me, Molly, or any of the other women who did the challenge, take a look at meet results and coefficients. Those are the things that matter in powerlifting. Winning the challenge says nothing about where you place in a PL comp, what records you hold, or whether you PRed at your last meet. The challenge is fun but its not a meaningful indicator of how you stack up against the competition in your sport. If your “sport” was crossfit, it would be different.

Fixed
Alternatively we could set up classes as suggested by that idiot Alffi who thought it should be done by height.

Yep. I’m shooting for 20. We’ll see. I’ve never pulled 20 DLs at any weight. Seriously, repping of any sort is just not my thing. But I like a good challenge. So I’m going to give my version of it a go.

That was truly bizarre.

Second the pullup observation.
People do seem to favor the challenges that favor them. I for one, hate pullup challenges.
I don’t think Pullups scale as well with body weight as most lifts.
Squats still looked good - I think the wide stance suits you
I always love to watch you squat.
