lol!

Good luck with the challenge! Remember the game is total reps in 2 minutes. 2 minutes is a long time. Pace yourself. The longer you can avoid that lactic acid build up the better you will do. I would think of it as 4 30 second blocks. Pull 7/ rest each block–you’ve got 28 easy.

Edited to add: Stay far away from failure through that first set. I know this from doing high volume pullups…you won’t get the volume in if you go all out right away.

Had kind of conveniently forgotten the 2-minute time. And I must admit I was going to just pull one long set. Will have to think about that.

Today’s training: bench

Flat Bench
8/45
5/67
5/77
3/83
1/87
1/99 loose shirt
1/106 shirt and belt
5/3/95

Gotta get back in my custom shirt one of these days and see how much weight it takes to touch my chest. Probably more than I can press at this point.

Finished up with cuff stuff, seated wide grip row, standing lat pulldown, overhead DB tricep extension, hanging leg raises (I want to get up to sets of 10).

Tomorrow is the DL challenge. I have to train at the local rec center. Very tight on space. Should be interesting.

That rec centre isn’t the one with hexagonal plates is it?

Good luck with that crazy challenge. Might have a go myself if it looks fun.

Sorry, wasn’t paying attention. What deadlift challenge?

Woke up with a slight sense of dread at having to pull for reps since I’d committed to it. Elected to go to my local rec center since my regular training gyms are a drive and I’m super busy.

RDL
8/45
5/95

Sumo DL
5/115
5/135

Time for the 155-lb. challenge. Didn’t quite go as planned. I wanted to pull one set of 20 reps. Instead I pulled two sets (15 and 12 reps, respectively) in less than the 2 minutes for a total of 27. Took a break in the middle because my lungs were burning. Not sure if that’s allowed. Wasn’t expecting my lungs to be the limiting factor. The weight never felt that bad. Except I had a terrible start with balance issues. Makes me wonder how people can break super heavy weight off the floor and keep their balance in sumo stance.

In conclusion, my efforts were nothing to write home about. But it was the best I could do today.

Finished up my training by pulling
1/175
1/185

After that, a few squats with inconsequential weight and a few lat pulldowns.

Interestingly, the cage at this rec center is set up so that when you unrack to squat, your face is mere inches away from a piece of glass that is jutting out (the green line in the photo). Really stupid dangerous.

There were no rules about the number of “sets” in the 2 minutes. Just as many reps as possible in that time.

27 sounds pretty darn good to me. And you thought you were maybe good for 20… Can’t watch the video, but it sounds like maybe you were good for a few more too.

nice effort. since you don’t do rep work that often, I am predicting severe DOMs for you…

Snap, you slightly misunderstood the challenge (what buckeye girl said), and you had another 30 seconds left. I’m giving you another 5 at least. Nicely done. (and 2 minutes of high intensity effort will totally burn your lungs, especially after the exercise due to EPOC)

…now I’m tempted to try the guy’s version, I think it was 225 lbs for guys -can anyone confirm?

Nice job. There was nothing that said you couldn’t do it in sets. In fact I remember Molly stopping for a few seconds near the end. You could have done more.

I hear you on the balance issue. It is tough to lock out a sumo pull and maintain balance at times. That’s why I went ass over tea kettle at natonals.

KP - sorry to hijack the log, but I have a question. I want to get a belt for Jennifer. It seems like I remember you posting a link to one in my log, but I can’t remember which of my logs it was in.

I had her wrap my belt around her (Inzer lever belt) and it went from up on her ribs to covering the tops of her hips. A tad too wide…

Any suggestions? Anyone else, please feel free to chime in!

Thanks

Yeah, I could’ve done more. I never look like I’m struggling. I just wanted to be done. Felt too much like running a race. Hate that shit.

Anyways . . . belts!

Yes, Strick. Here you go:

I highly recommend the tapered lever belt.

Thank you! That was the one belt I found that I thought might work. We will go with that!

Nice work.

squatting wide seems to suit you too

hair down you look so different

Nicely done Snapper!

Nice work! I admire you for getting out of your comfort zone and pulling for reps…enjoy the doms.

Adding what others have said, you had several more in you with the time you had left.

Excellent effort Snap.

Whew, I’m worn out just watching that. Good work Snap.

Nice work. You’ll feel them for awhile I bet.
