Any numbers you shooting for in your next Meet. Or have you thought that far ahead yet?[/quote]
Here’s what I’d like to do:
Squat: 220 lb.+ . . . I can do this. Done it before.
Bench: 114.4 lb.
DL: 253.5 lb.

I’m starting all of my new programming next week. But tomorrow I’m going to play with sumo. I was able to get a mini-lesson in sumo DLing from two lifters who have been members of the IPF world team. They recommended HUGE changes in my form. So I’m going to try to implement what they showed me with very light weights tomorrow. I’ve been sumo-ing like a reverse squat with narrow feet and my ass out. Recommendations included rotating my hips under me to make my chest much higher, widening my feet, narrowing my grip, and never looking at the bar on the descent.
Tomorrow is also my daughter’s first “practice meet” as a level 5 competitive gymnast. I’m excited for her. I’ll put some vids up tomorrow.

Sounds more then achievable for you. Matter of fact I think you might be selling yourself short…but what the hell do I know.
With your planning and focus, I have no doubt you’ll hit those goals.
I’ll be watching your bench progress. I am in the mood to experiment with some programming changes.
Good luck to Greer. Looking forward to the videos. Is she feeling better about beam?

I had to laugh at “have you thought about your next meet.” Do you think about your next meet driving home from the last one? I know I do.
When are you thinking of the next one?
Love how you are planning your next meet-
awesome.
ps I like the new bling in your avi.

Yeah, pretty obvious answer.

Ahem…new avatar?

Yep. You’re right.
Squat: 231 lb.
Bench: 114.4 lb.
DL: TBD
Yep, O. I start thinking about the next meet immediately after finishing one. Think about how I’m going to change my programming, what my goals will be, etc. There are local meets scheduled in October (USAPL), November (NASA), and December (USAPL). I’ll do one of those.
DL goals are really up in the air since I’m considering switching to sumo. Practiced today with my feet to the plates. But maybe there’s a law of diminishing returns there? I’ll post some vids for feedback. A trainer in my gym asked me why I’m switching from conventional to sumo. I explained that my form breaks down when I hit a certain point, to which he responded “well, then fix it.” In my case, that would be strengthening my hammies so as to not overload my lower back. What he said sort of made sense to me.
Spent a good portion of today at my son’s hockey camp and daughter’s first faux meet as a level 5 competitive gymnast. Here’s her floor routine:

It might surprise you to hear that I’m a pretty modest person regarding my abilities. But I appreciate the sentiment!
Played with sumo today. Did A LOT of sets with wide stance. Chest up. Never looking at bar on the descent. Trying to rotate my hips and tuck my ass under. Vid looks great from the side. Ass definitely doesn’t look tucked on vid from the back. What to do about 'dat ass? I’m assuming that feet to plates may not be so good when the weight is heavy? And I’m having trouble determining how to be explosive in this position. Also, balance is very challenging. Feedback welcome.

I second the new AVI!
Love how you politely got them to take their socializing elsewhere…
You need to change your avi to that new one.
I’m not a coach but tend to agree with him regarding the DL and why the change in stance. I mean if you know what your weak point is then simply work on that instead of totally changing up your form.
I can’t offer advice on sumo because I can’t pull that way to save my life.
james
I’m no expert on sumo, it just gives me the heebie-jeebies seeing the plates come so close to your toes.
Your daughter is cool. What do your kids think of their weight-lifting mom?
Upper body today
Flat bench
8/45
5/55
5/65
5/75
3/5/80
I am getting stronger! Will start my new benching program/cycle next week.
Then lots of rowing and shoulder stuff.
Showed my coach my sumo stance. He thought I needed to move my feet in. So I’ll continue playing around with it.

Good question. They’ve only seen one meet. I don’t like being watched. (I know I have issues.) I don’t think they’re wildly impressed. My daughter mostly seems impressed by glitz and glamour in women. And I sort of missed out on that gene.
How does it “feel” when doing the lift? I love when it feels so right. Ive never looked at bar when i DL. not that i know if its good or bad ha
Are daughters are similar mine was an amazing dancer all styles but ballet was so beautiful to watch. I=She doesnt dance anymore and i really miss watching her. I did a girls hair in AZ I thought she was a level 5 that was asked to train with Bella Korolla(sp?) she ended up quitting gymnastics, the 30 hrs training got too much, when i left she was doing cheer. Your daughter is very good! Im sure your very proud.
Greer has improved tremendously since the last floor videos you posted! She has excellent flexibility and lovely lines. She’s sure to do well this season.
