wow… good work brother! I just bought a mountain bike… to help me get back into the cardio mode.
I won’t be doing anything as crazy as you though! Especially with my training wheels on… lol!
Thanks Bro!
I find biking to be the most interesting cardio around. I can run and do the treadmill on occasion but biking outdoors in the mountains is what keeps me going. Do some road rides first (dirt roads if possible) to get a feel for it. You’ll have no problems at all.[/quote]
Hear that. I could run anywhere but a treadmill. I would rather bike anywhere than go “spinning.” Effective for some folks, but boring as all get-out to me. I need the scenery to change while doing endurance cardio.
You’re fortunate to live where you do. The rides must be very enjoyable from the view perspective.

The views are outstanding - anything from Pike’s Peak to the continental divide, alpine lakes, secluded streams, waterfalls and then some of the rides go through burn areas stark and desolate but regrowing slowly. I really need to get a small camera…
Sounds fabulous: I’d love to see a picture or two, soldog, should you ever get around to it.

Hey! There is a “Pike’s Peak” setting on one of the stairclimber machines at my gym! Too damn funny. Now if I could just find a way to get my bike on the stair machine… lol!
Karate last night and tomorrow night.
No weights tonight - went to my daughter’s senior awards night. Graduation is Saturday.
Congrats on the new graduate. I know y’all are proud.
Hell Yea! Congrats to your grad doggie. That bike ridin’ looks awsome Bro, I envy you.
Thanks guys! My daughter has been great - honor roll straight thru, academic letter, leader in the choir program, she has spoiled us. Now I’ve got 4 years before the next one graduates - that is if he gets his shit together and manages to pass…
So I saw the PT this afternoon, the verdict is - no pressing (bench or shoulder) until this should impingement heals. The good news is that she thinks it is minor enough that rehab exercises should take care of it over the next 6-8 weeks. So I’ve got the bands and the program, twice a day 2x15 going to 2x25. Lower internal rotation, external rotation, side pull downs and scap retractions all with bands. She gave me a green one to start with and (since I was already so strong - LOL) a blue one to move up to in a couple of weeks. I keep the scap pushups I’ve been doing but get rid of the DB exercises for now.
Twice a day?
Guess I need to be doing more then…
Happy to hear that “mere” rehab is all that’s needed.

Yeah it’s good to hear. She did say that if I’m not improving in 4 weeks, she’ll recommend a cortizone shot to reduce the inflammation. Then if that doesn’t work, they will investigate further with x-ray etc…
The twice a day is high rep, low resistance stuff but even so after doing all of it I can feel it between my scaps and around the shoulders.
Just tried those side pulldowns and I think they’ll do the job. That works everything, doesn’t it? subscap, teres, infraspinatus.
I’ve been doing the external/internal band rotations with arm by the side. Is that what you mean by “lower?” Internal rotation is a little uncomfortable…and so - obviously needed.
great idea doing the scap movements for shoulder health. i need to do more of those.

Yes - With a towel folded up between your elbow and side acting as a spacer. For me the external rotation is the one I feel the most. And yep - that side pull down with the band seems to work it all.
Given the restrictions on upper body pressing exercises that I’m operating with for the next few months, I believe that it is time to change up the training program. I thinking of going to a 3x5 or 5x5 format instead of the 3x10. Still going to stick with as close to a total body training session as possible because that best fits with my schedule.
Here are the exercises I’m thinking of including:
Zercher squats
Deadlifts
chinups
Scap push-up
Scap inverted row
DB shrugs
DB curls
Chair dips (weighted)
Misc. Ab work
Any comments or suggestions?
Hey, I’m certianly not one to advise, but it sure looks complete to me. Way to figure out how to stay training.
I guess you would know, soldog, if the dips or shrugs would get to your shoulder. I’ll look forward to your posts on how the rehab is working out – good luck. Any idea what the pound-strength of those bands might be?

Ecogenx recommended plate raises to me. I think they’re a great idea for shoulder work.
