Good squatting Soldog. Like Jimmy sez… you are hammering away!
Good Sqauting. I would really watch going heavier until you get a proper rack to get the bar on and off -that is a disaster waiting to happen on the re-rack.
I would switch to front sqauts when going heavy and keep the back sqauts light.

You know it, Fischer. I’m planning on the power rack soon and if that can’t happen, I’ll start doing squat days at the company gym.

decided to test my bench tonight but my son wouldn’t get out of bed to spot (claimed to be too tired), so I had my daughter (home for spring break) spot at 185.
Got too high on my chest the first one and then managed to get the second one up. Just didn’t find a groove, so I called it good there. I could have done reps at 175, so I’m pretty sure I have more than 185 in me. Ah well, another night…
Thats the fun part! We get to do it again tomorrow.

Off-Friday today so I took the bike out to the nearest little open-space park and rediscovered just how different trail riding is from road riding.

Awesome! They would have to call the meat wagon for me!

This is one of the last poor remaining patches of snow around the Front Range. Our winter has been terribly dry and the fire season is coming up fast.

The way I was gasping the deer were probably thinking about calling one for me.
Felt good to get back out on the trail.
Went snowboarding today with my son and one of his buddies. They took off without me, of course, at least until lunch time. To let me buy them lunch. Spring conditions, which means ice covered by a couple inches of groomed powered ice turning to slush over ice as the day progresses.
Still not getting the hang of it, today my knees took the most damage from falling forward at low speed. Gonna have some good bruises tomorrow. I might just finish out the season on skis since I at least can stay upright on the ice with them.
Between biking yesterday and boarding today my quads are fried.

You should use a balance board over the spring and summer. Get those stabilizer muscle really strong for next year. It will really help with the snowboarding.
Great climb on the bike. Spring is here!

I haven’t been posting my Monday/Wednesday Wado classes but they have been happening and have been pretty intense, enough to drench my gi in sweat. Doesn’t get me breathing quite as hard as that trail ride last Friday.
It’s blizzard time along the front range! I glad I decided yesterday to start spring break early. We’ve gotten about 6 inches of wet snow in the last 4 hours. The plan for the next week is skiing and rest. Might get a couple of training sessions in as well.

Thanks skid - getting down into the stance to grab the bar is almost identical to low, low horse stance in karate. I think that helps me a lot.

and by the way - my legs are still super sore from this session.

Spring snow - after about 7 hours.
…not much better down in my neighborhood either (Capital Hill). Not sure where you are, but by now your snow must be 2-3xs as deep! Spring time in the rockies…gotta love it. Stay warm up there SD.
