It's a Dog's life

I assume you brought the non-proprietary time-dilation field for this situation?

Naw, I’ll just do a “C” job and they get what they get (plagarize ‘R’ us). Although if you have a line on the last one sold…

It’s a weird situation since we’re writing part of a proposal for another company and we think there is a zero probability of win. So I’ll do what I can, take my OT pay and hope my direct boss is satisfied. Which he will be because he has already said much the same to Larry and I.

In bed around 9, so i can do it all over again…

Well it happened and I’m on the road tomorrow for a week to finish off this proposal that got dumped on us at the last minute. Training and biking are on hold for a while unless I can steal an hour in the mornings at the hotel.

Life sure can suck when you don’t get your own way. The rest can be a bonus, try to stay on top of the cardio at least. Other than that dude make the best of it.

Life has a way of intruding on our fun. Make the best of it and have a safe trip.

I wouldn’t say life sucks because it still beats the alternative, the situation may suck but at least the overtime pay might pay for part of the surprise bathroom remodel that just cropped up.

Thanks Hel! I’ve never been downtown Chicago before and that’s where I’m staying. Maybe towards the end of this this thing I’ll get to see some of the area (besides from the airplane window).

Left work ‘early’ (only spent 10 hours there today) to pack and get a good lifting session before I travel.

Weight 185.2lbs I ate a big lunch (1.5 lbs of beef w/broccoli from the local Safeway and then about 1.5 lbs of salad shrimp with some really salty cocktail sauce for an early snack & dinner). This probably explains my weight being back up over 185 but that doesn’t matter as much today because I felt pretty good lifting.

Back Squat: My main hang-up on these is confidence doing them without a power rack/squat cage as a safety backup.

Dead lift: I think I counted wrong on Thursday and the 265# was really 285# but anyway today I used all of the plates I own and could have gone higher.

Everybody have a fine week this week!

In the medium to long term you will want to solve this equipment problem, but for now I would say don’t worry too much about it: You can still make real progress doing higher-rep sets where you also avoid as much as possible a failed rep at the end.

Those readers who are just joining us may wish to know that the term ‘sandbagging’ has already come up in a similar context (see post 6.7.8) and need not be repeated here. Great work!

I expected you would develop an affectionate relationship!

Damn soldog you’re killin’ it bud! Congrats on those new PRs. How did you like downtown Chicago? I grew up just North of downtown, miss all of the action of the city, don’t miss living there though.

Thanks for the comments guys! I’m still in Chicago but will fly home this afternoon. Didn’t get to see much of the town except for a few blocks around the financial district. I guess it’s alright for a city - but I’m a mountain man at heart. I’ve been eating like crap and working 16 hours a day writing this *@#% proposal. Haven’t even done my shoulder rehab work since Sunday and have probably lost any healing that happened in the last month. Working on a laptop with a terrible desk/chair setup for all too many hours a day.

Don’t sweat it, Soldog. You will get back in it right away even more sure of your motivation.

The squats and deads look good. That is one heck of a chinup brother.Nice work!

Thanks Jimmy!

Damage report: Weight this morning was 191 up from 183 last Monday. I’m going strict on the diet and back into my regular schedule as of today.

Based on this one I believe I’ll add some left side pressing while this right side is in rehab. I’m considering a DB bench and DB overhead press. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Soldog,

I have always heard great things about unilateral training. I don’t think you can go wrong with DB bench or OH press, just make sure you don’t start off heavy and cause problems for the left side.

Work around the injury by hitting other muscle groups a little harder or a little more frequently. As long as you keep lifting hard, you will keep the growth hormones flowing and make overall progress.

Sounds like the unilateral work is worth giving a try as long as, like Mday said, you are not doing anything (like in order to maintain position) that puts undue stress on the rehabbing joint. No experience myself, however, with this.
