It's a Dog's life

Soldog… good job!
Too funny, reading your story, I found my own heart rate go up, breathing increased, and I was cursing (out loud!) everytime that $#@!%! chain fell off, and then chuckling. My wife thinks I am crazy!

The wine tasting escapade looks interesting… I do that with beer, in my garage, with a couple of the locals at least 2 days a week. Well… I used to

Soldog, what a great race re-cap, as well as the wine tasting. Man you did good. You make me want to go out and…well not ride a bike at 40 miles above sea level!

Good training as the week goes by

Same here: Thanks for recounting everything!

You should start a blog. Great write up. Congrats on the quitting smoking there soldog.

Can’t wait to see the next competition’s results.

Thanks for the complements and support guys! Writing like that doesn’t come easily to me. I’m happy that y’all enjoyed it.

Weight 185 lbs feeling fat up 5 lbs over the last 12 days

Back Squat: 45 lbsx10, 65x10, 95x10, 135x5, 185x5/5/5
Man I felt weak on these. I won’t be skipping a week for racing again.

Hang Clean Practice: 65 lbsx5, 95x5/5

Dead lift: 135 lbsx5, 185x5, 205x5, 225x5/5/5

Chin ups: 7/7/6/6/6/4/4/4

Gotta give up on curls and dips until my shoulder rehab is complete. I need to add something, maybe 1 arm DB rows? Concentrate on legs and back for a while.

How tall are you at the 185 lb?

Wish you luck on the shoulder rehab. What are you doing for it?

I’m 6 feet even so technically 185 isn’t too bad if I was carrying the muscle that I should have.

Right now I’m doing shoulder rotation bands (internal & external), scap pullbacks, side pulls and scap activation in a straight back chair. All stuff “prescribed” by the PT. It is improving significantly but the tweak I got last week doing curls was warning enough to lay off.

Damn soldog! That race sounds really painful, Sounds like you had a great time in spite of the pain. Thanks for the write up, I enjoyed reading that.

Thanks Bunny! That was a basline PR since this was the very first time attempting weighted chins. I was also happy to get the dead lift PR since I felt so weak on Tuesday.

Nice job on the PRs Soldog. I can see you breaking 3 plates off the floor in a few weeks.

Thanks Skidmark! I can see a 315 deadlift too… As soon as I can acquire another set of olympic style plates. My current set only gets me to 290 lbs.

Well done on the PRs! You are going to like that dip belt.

Went for a ride after work today with Crazy Larry who has been riding for many years. He kicked my butt but it’s all good because I got pushed hard. I was also really feeling those squats and deadlifts from yesterday in the legs.

About 2 hours ride time and 10 minutes rest. This time I did push the bike for a bit and walked the rougher sections especially after Larry did an endo and busted his knee up.

And now I have the distinct pleasure of attempting to do 80 or more hours of work over the weekend since upper management could not stick with a decision and the shit ended up on me at the last minute.
