So I’ve made and appt to see a massage therapist tomorrow, she does a variety of styles including Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Massage, Myofascial Massage and/or PUSH Therapy. I’m interested in seeing how this goes.
Oh BTW - I needed to brush an inch of snow off the car this morning. The snow line was about 200 feet below us in altitude.
I’ve always found that a good deep tissue massage is the best in terms of recovery. It is not the most pleasant experience but the return is wonderful. You will walk out of the appointment feeling like a new man.

Snow in June is always kind of fun. It doesn’t last long and it is a really good soaking for our dry forest. When we came out house hunting in 1989, the area received 6 inches of snow down around 8000 feet elevation on the first day of summer and actually made us all the more interested in living at elevation.
Weight = 179.2 lbs (lost all that carb-up weight from my weekend excesses)
Got home later than usual and then had to take my daughter to a meeting for a trip she is taking with the HS Choir. (They sing at Carnegie Hall in two weeks)
Also not feeling up to snuff today, lack of focus, sleepy despite getting 7-8 hours sleep per night, gut issues most of the day (whine, whine, whine)
Abbreviated training session:
Chin-ups: 7x6 (PR reps)
These are easier starting off with them instead of after squats and deads
EZBar curls: 5x55, 5x75, 4x75, 4x75, 4x75, 4x75, 4x75 lbs
First time doing these. I just could not get that 5 rep
Weight = 181.4 lbs This will probably go up again because I had 3 large cookies at our All-Hands meeting at work today (hey I needed to get ready for squat day - right?)
Since I didn’t do any legs last night, I decided to train at the company facility and declare today a squat day. Last squat day was May 2 and then I topped out at 200 for 2 reps. At the time I felt I had left some money on the table but was satisfied with what I accomplished. Today I went in thinking to attempt to find my single rep max and hoped it might be above 225 lbs, just because 225 is two plates per side. I also decided to do wide-ish grip pullups in between squat sets. So here is how it went:
Squat Pullup
45x10 5
135x5 5
185x5 5
205x5 5
215x5 5
225x2 5
235x2 5
245x1 5
255x1 5 This one wavered a lot going up and I debated trying another but since I had the squat cage pins I said what the hell
260x0 3 dumped it forward and started laughing manically. I got stuck halfway up and started leaning forward, decided I didn’t really want to do a good morning and just dumped it forward on the pins. Unloaded the bar and reloaded it to 205
205x5 3
135x5 3 (ATG)
45x10 3 (ATG)
That was fun and my legs are fried. Everything in the 200’s were PR’s and I think my 1RM is higher than 255 lbs 'cause I was getting tired by the time I got there. I was just too cautious boosting the weight each time. Maybe in another month or two I’ll be in the 3 plate range.
That also was 57 pullups in the session when back in March I was barely doing any. I guess I am doing something right.

Well, well, Soldog: So you have been sandbagging us all along! In a short time I suppose we will be seeing that 315 squat that just happened because you ‘mistakenly’ put too much weight on the bar!
Great work! Now that you have got the taste of blood …

Yep Geech, sandbaggin’ is what it was! (snort, giggle, laugh). I’m so new at this game that I don’t have a clue as to my limits. I think for lifting goals I’m going to shoot at the intermediate to advanced level listed at exrx
Which would put me:
Press 138-164lbs
Bench 201-275 lbs
Squat 269-367 lbs
Dead 315-438 lbs
Clean 194-264 lbs
So I’m almost to intermediate in squats and deads. I don’t have a clue on press, bench and cleans. They get worked after my shoulder rehab is complete.
Your GPP is so good with the bike riding and with a split routine, I expect it won’t take you a year to hit the top end of those numbers. Esp if you decide to start putting weight back on - the right kind.
splitting, carrying & stacking wood for an hour and half
Golfing for 2.5 hours
both with the boy[/quote]
You deserve the day golfing after those numbers earlier.
I spent yesterday at a waterpark with my kid. Tame sort of place, but perfect for an eight year old. Second time we’ve done it, this time my wife came with us. It was really a good time.
