Israel is not the root cause for why we are attacked by terrorists. The root cause of why we are attacked by terrorists is the exact same reason the west has always been attacked by Islam. Islam has a different set of values and the goal of global domination under the rule of Allah. Their values are in direct opposition to western civilization and only the total destruction/submission of the west to Islam’s control will bring peace between the west and Islam.

Pick a century - ANY century - adter tthe 6th century and you will find followers of Islam attacking the west. They may have a variety of rationales and justifications for their attacks - but the constant has been that Islam seeks the desruction/submission of all things non-Islam. PERIOD - END OF STORY.

There is no peace possible between the west and Islam - you’re only deluding yourself if you think this is possible. It is not Israel’s fault - If Israel was taken out of existence today, it would not change a thing. They will still seek to destroy the west . . . .

If the press office doesn’t control what it distributes, and some ‘peon’ has access to the mailing list for international press contacts like this, that would be a major professional blunder. Both the ‘peon’ would have to lose their job, and probably their manager. Result: Big blunder based on lack of control.

Scenario 2: Let’s just replace the international incident with a government employee sending out some inappropriate sexual content, as in your suggested example. Just read the paragraphs above again: the press officer and the government spokesman call it ‘fantastic’, ‘funny’ and showed it to their kids. Result: Yes, that would be a terrific blunder.

Let me add scenario 3: It’s purposefully ‘leaked by a junior staffer’. The message is brought across in good old dog whistle politics style, while the higher ranks can claim deniability. Result: Morons who laugh at dead people get their fix, the video goes viral - and an attempt at respectability is retained.

Don’t know, I guess we’ll have to chose our scenarios. It makes it hard to chose given that the press office hasn’t leaked other stuff along those lines before… oh wait, they did. My point - it’s a propaganda war, and neither side plays it fair. And so far, the Israeli PR campaign has imho been just as heavy handed as their raid.

When I went over there the first time I remember expecting a bunch of crazy jihadists running around with AK-47’s and decapitating people all the time. It wasn’t like that. Most of the people are poor, they have nothing, they scratch out living doing whatever they can, many are sick and very hungry. The military of these countries are a fucking joke. I had my eyes opened quite a bit.

Now, were there bad people over there? Oh yeah, there was some bad shit that went down and some of my friends got hurt pretty badly. But none of that would have happened if we weren’t over there in the first place.

This “War on Terror” is an unwinnable war. I mean, when exactly do you declare that the war has been won? What is the standard? Answer: You don’t know, and you can never know. It’s like fighting the War on Drugs. It’s not something you can win at. There are no clear cut objectives. There are no standing armies to fight.

And as far as Islam being a threat to West since the 6th century. What are you talking about? When was the last serious threat to West from Islam? Vienna being beseiged by the Ottoman Turks in 1683? And even the Ottoman Empire was a secular Muslim empire and even then it lost most of its military might by the end of the 18th century.

At this point I would also like to point out the obvious to most people, but apparently not you that there are scumbags and psychopaths in any group of people. No race or religion has a monopoly on that.
