Isolations Necessary for BBers?

is it necessary to icorporate isolation exercises for proper muscle development? I mean, can’t u just incorporate variations instead, or do u absolutely have to use isos in order to sculpt a proper proportioned physique?

‘proper sculpted physique’ is subjective.

but if you’re wondering what’s required to be a professional elite bodybuilder, isolation exercises are absolutely required.

IMO, isolation is required for great biceps, abs, and cavles. and that’s a small list. it’s very debatable that direct work is also needed for other muscle groups to be great.

isolation movements are nothing to scoff at. they’re excellent, and indispensable IMO, to achieving a variety of strength and cosmetic goals in the gym.

Yes.

Ill say YES if BBing and competeing is your goal. You need a hell of a base first but something in everyone is going to be lacking and you will need to attack that. This after of course many years building one hell of a solid all around base.

Why is this still a question that anyone is asking?

You NEED isolation work unless your goal is a disproportionate physique. If you want huge front delts and underdeveloped lateral and rear delts, avoid all isolation movements like side lateral raises and bent over flyes.

If you think you will reach your greatest potential by never doing biceps curls, someone lied to you. This either or mentality is ridiculous. You shouldn’t be avoiding either compound or isolation movements. What you should be doing is LEARNING and developing a routine that doesn’t ignore entire body parts.

I am not sure what “proper muscle development” means in your mind. However, if it means to hit your, or come close to your, genetic potential, then the answer is yes. If it means to have a physique that is better then 90% of the world’s population, the answer is no.

In fact, you do not even need to lift weights to get that. Any regular exercise and proper diet will get you that. It just depends on how much of that last 10% you want to achieve. The higher you want to go on that steep curve, the more you will need isos.

There should be a separate category for pissing matches so we could send these there. Your goals matter. One point, there are no true isolation exercises. Think action. Since the biceps humerus tend to be the most discussed mm in the universe, think what they do.

If you say to yourself, you know, I think I need better development in my elbow flexors, then flex your elbow against resistance.
