Islam: What the West Needs to Know

Talk about bigotry!

You have yet to act in good faith on this website.
Lixy apparently loves irony so much not a post of his goes by without indulging in it.

How Lixy could write that paragraph with a call to “good faith” is beyond description.

Exactly. Christ was much more peaceful than Muhammed so these religions are incredibly divergent.

Letting yourself be crucified goes far beyond a mere peaceful attitude.
Yes it does. Would Muhammed have done such a thing? Of course not. He put personal welfare and wealth first.

If he were alive today and you were the man you claim to be you would criticize him heavily.

And if Jesus were alive today, half the people on this site would jeer at him, “get a haircut, hippie!”

Damn right. He probably needed a bath too.

Jesus had a fine philosophy if you want to have no possessions, be short lived and not have (or raise) your own offspring. I don’t think it is very realistic for the world we live in but it can be used as a tool to moderate our greedy violent nature. People certainly have bastardized Christianity to allow our violent nature in.

Muhammed’s philosophy seems more in line with our greedy violent nature. Speak of peace while making war. Demand people do what you say while you do what is often the opposite.

Actually, I think they’d say “SQUATS AND MILK!”

Maybe not.

If “Cleanliness is next to godliness” as they say, and Jesus sits next to God, then Jesus is Cleanliness.

That trinity stuff can get really confusing.

Indeed it does. Do you know what the crucifixion was for?

I love when morons come in and say shit like “well the bible is violent too,” so I guess that makes it ok? What did your parents do when you got in trouble and you said “well so and so did it too?” They beat your ass and said I don’t give a shit what so and so did.

So you DO believe in god!

Yup. Ever since I learned that they give out free food at church services.

Of course, they’re rather stingy with the grub, but the old priest where I go doesn’t seem to notice when I go back in line six or seven times after getting yet another tasty wafer. Bringing a young boy along to distract them seems to work wonders.

I’m so full of Jesus when I get out, I’m sometimes tempted to cut across the lake on my walk back.

Squirt some of your own Easy Cheese on the wafer (the priest never shares his) and don’t forget the wine.

As PrCalDude noted, it is indeed a logical fallacy, and in an absolute terms discussion, it shouldn’t be brought up. However, the recurring argument in Elbow’s posts is that Islam is inherently evil and that the actions of, say Osama Ben Laden, must be condoned by Islam since he performs them in the name of Islam and claims to be Muslim. That’s where one could bring up the many other religions of ideologies that were perverted by some for political or financial gain.

So yes, if the discussion was limited to Islam and its teachings, then the bible has no business in there.
