That’s certainly the best way to handle it, but he doesn’t have the confidence and experience to pull it off. It’s sort of like telling these guys that don’t know how to talk to girls to be “cocky and funny.” Well how the hell are you supposed to do that if you can’t even say hello?
Confidence and assertiveness are the ultimate goal but I think he will just embarass himself more by trying to fake something he hasn’t built up in himself. It’s best if he just acts on what he feels, and doesn’t try to hide or fake anything. Embarassment and defeat do not matter in the long run. Building experience is the important thing.

I’m not saying anti-violence doesn’t have it’s place in the world, there have been successful movements fueled by non-violence, but ultimately we were born with fists, and sometimes we have to use them. The bible shouldn’t be taken out of context. Back in Jesus time men didin’t go slapping each other for “jokes”. If they slapped you it was, and still is IMO, a sign of disrespect.
He wanted you to turn the other cheek around. The OTHER guys cheek around.

As mentioned, the OP is a grown man and from what he wrote I gathered that he was bigger than the guy picking on him. Aside from that precluding him from being a pussy he might not even know it bothers the OP this much since he doesn’t even seem to express his displeasure in the slightest. The expression is ‘pick on someone your own size’ not ‘your own age’.
To the OP, what kind of workplace are you at where you expect the other guy will take a confrontation to violence anyway? Most people would rather not fight at work, so you’re really making up a lot of crap for nothing. This isn’t about violence at all, this is about you being too gutless to tell the guy to piss off.
