Is too much protein bad for you?

Right now my goal for protein intake is 200grams a day but what if I exceed that amount. What, if any, are the effects of consuming too much protein?

You’ll get really aggressive and start building muscle. It’s really scary so I’d stay away from protein or just read Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION and Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

nothing bad at all, and you’d have to weigh under 100lbs for 200g to be a lot. At 180 I eat about 270-300g/day, I reckon some of the BIG boys on this forum prolly exceed 400-500g when they bulk.

You might put on TOO MUCH muscle. 200g protein is excess if you weigh around 50lbs. Don’t sweat it!

Gas.

ummm, bigger muscles?

how much do you weigh currently?

for one it depends on your size. if your 100 lbs (i know your not) then 200 is too much. going over by 10 or 20 grams shouldnt do too much damage, but VERY high protien intake, like what the pros do with 600 grams a day, is fairly damaging to your liver.

Checking the search engine and reviewing previous issues is one likely outcome.

You know, it’s funny… now that you’ve mentioned it, I don’t think there’s ever been a study showing negative effects of any protein intake on healthy people.
Makes you wonder how high you’d have to go and for how long…

No its not bad, unless it soy.

Imagaine 200 grams of soy a day.

You would probably develop gyno from 200g of soy a day.

According to a co-worker of mine, it will give you a heart attack. He’s not really firing on all cylinders, though, if you know what I mean. Most of my co-workers aren’t. Mainstream media will also say that it’s bad, but you just need to believe in T-mag and do it; the results will speak for themselves.
