Is There A Correlation Between Cortisol And A Lacking Muscle Pump?

I read this on a couple of dubious websites and I was wondering if there’s some truth to it.

The only reasons I could think of:

  1. Cortisol decreases glucose absorption (so less water gets pulled into the muscle cells). But if you drink enough water and take a bit of sodium preworkout this should normally be solved..

  2. Cortisol increases adrenaline output which, in excess, can lead to a lack of neuromuscular activation (beta-adrenergic desensitization) and weaker muscular tension/compression.

I know a muscle pump is not required for muscle maintenance/growth, but the increased blood flow can enhance recovery. Also, I can imagine lots of people getting frustrated when they’re not able to achieve a decent pump despite putting in the work. If you expect this from your workout in order for you to feel like you have properly worked that muscle, not getting it becomes demotivating.
