Is Strength Training Becoming a Thing of the Past?

I been at it on and off for a long time.Maybe its just the area I live. But I have noticed that most of the new guys coming up dont give two shits about getting stronger.I mean sure they want to look stronger but thats it. Most seem to worried about having a freking Beach type body.Im cool with that. But still.I just cant understand what so great about being just shy of six feet at 180lbs with a six pack but being weak as shit.Is it because they dont know how to get strong ?Or is it that they dont know what strong is.

I mean most of these guys dont deadlift or squat.Without saying they Bench which is there meassuring stick for strength. But to these guys if you bench 225lbs for a few reps your a studd.Has anyone notice this?Maybe I just have to much of a old school mind set.

yawn

tell me more…i’m riveted!!!

first off I thought this was going to be in the powerlifting forum.Im sorry you two boys arent interested.

This is T-Nation man

Correct, thus there is no need to be calling out “boys”. Next time post your thread in the correct section, or deal with the flaming.

You start a thread on a subject that has been beat into the gawdamn ground, then get pissy when the “boys” make fun of you?

clap, clap, well done.

as stated, this is T-Nation, man the fuck up.

We could keep it out of PLing and just have fun flaming him.

Anyone with me?

Deal.

Yeah, kids these days. Sheesh.

When I was a kid, there weren’t any kids.

We had to come down the birth canal 27 years old and drinkin a beer, up hill both ways in the fucking snow, which was 3 feet deep and littered with glass!

And we liked it! It built character.

But Now, Now you got these whippersnappers commin out, can’t speak a damned word, covered in baby goo, and crapping their diapers like a god damned baby!

Yeah, kids these days. They got no character.

harsh. For me it was ignorance. I thought squatting was bad for my knees and I had never heard of a deadlift.

dude it’s because you’re so narrow minded.

you talk about guys being shorter than 6 foot and being ‘ripped up with abs’

why would someone want to do that? erhm…how about because it looks good? maybe because of their job or lifestyle they can’t be a 340lb powerlifter. maybe they like doing other activities that powerlifting would interfere with.

that’d be like me asking them why would anyone want to turn into a fat ball that only looks impressive the hour he’s lifting weights in the gym…where’s the point in that.

so you (supposedly) lift heavy weights. good for you. you want a damn cookie?

your post brings nothing to the table and pretty much just makes you look like an ignorant prick.

That sounds like something Denis Leary wrote in his book, Why We Suck … if you haven’t read it I guarantee you’ll love it

Well said. I have nothing against the OP, but you can’t come out with posts like this and expect unicorns and rainbows.

HolyMac, you forgot to include a humorous, yet slightly retarded picture. You can’t just add words!
