Is Shoulder Width Genetic?

DLboy -

So your saying some “frame” thickness and increases happen later than the teen years. IE: wrists getting just a little bit bigger, heavier and maybe very slightly longer clavicles. Never thought about that, but should be possible since bone does adapt to stress…

How much can “posture” adjustments make shoulders appear to be wider without touching a single weight?

Some people slouch and tuck their shoulders in, I mean many times in humbleness, but simple postural change makes a real measurable difference.

I believe on heavy body builders, a slight amount of actual psylogical adjustment happens on the shoulder joints/clavicles anyway. But that is another discussion.

The real case, is that people have become mr olympia with even less than what others her are complaining about.

The same thing with high level atheletes…

Most people keep growing in width/thickness for a few years after they’ve stopped growing in height, even with no training. But sorry, your pecker won’t grow any bigger past the age of 16 :stuck_out_tongue:

And most “skinny boy” with the real narrow waist and wide shoulders never become body builders or usually never do, its usually someone with a heavier structure to start with and lots of motivation.

BTW no-one has mentioned seroids yet! lol[/quote]

Let me mention steroids…or hormones at least.

Barry Bonds has tested negative for all his steroid tests but we all know no one can test for HGH. In just 1 season Bonds went from a 42 jacket size to a 52 jacket size. There’s some shoulder width for ya. His cap size also went from 7.5 Inches to 7.75 inches EVEN THOUGH he shaved his head.
