Is It Just Me or Does This Guy Have an Axe to Grind?

Landis is a sweet name.

The guy has a definite ax to grind. He seems a little off from his original email. He wants to open peoples minds to other aspects of training but at the same time comes off very closed minded. How the fuck is that going to work?

HIS RESPONSE:

First off you should know that I have more close friends of ethnicity than not
I think anyone who says something like that is not worth talking to.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe everyone is “of ethnicity”.
I was thinking the same thing, but there was SO much wrong with what he wrote I just decided to respond in general terms. But I do think using stereotyping me because I’m black as an example to explain what he was doing with powerlifters causing him to accuse of me of using the race card is funny.

So what he’s saying is he has more real friends than imaginary ones! That’s a start…

Honestly when I read the first email I felt like I was reading a very obvious troll attempt on a forum.
I can’t believe anybody could actually have such a skewed perception like that… but this guy actually exists??

Yep. He’s a trainer. Not a personal friend by any means but I am on his email list and that is what he sent out to everyone.

Loudog, what in the HELL is going on in your avatar? Who is that? It’s cracking me up!

I think it’s clear that he’s getting emotional because of the child-abuse, I don’t think he necessarily believes what he’s saying about powerlifters. Maybe he was abused when he was a kid, and that’s why this story made him so angry.
How can we tell if the “abuse” story isn’t completely made up?

Who is he, anyway, Le?

Those were my thoughts as well… I’m actually surprised that Le responded (or hell, even read it), but I guess it’s someone Le knows somehow?

What it is is that I have noticed his emails getting more and more slanted. He honestly appears to be on an anti-steroid crusade and attributes a LOT of people’s bad behavior to steroids as well as being disparaging to other forms of training other than what he does himself. I usually ignore the bs he has sent but today’s email got me to the point where I needed to check him, albeit in a civil way.

Racism still exists, and as an attemp to not be “Racist” many people try to forcefully think the opposite. In order to do this they just associate and see key words, and flip out and think your calling them racist.

If you use the word “stereotype”, or mention a person of another race. They totally disregard what you have to say, and just assume your calling them a racist. Are you married? It’s like arguing with your wife once she decides she’s mad at you. You can tell her she’s gorgeous and she won’t take it as a compliment she’ll think your patronizing her.

Don’t give random people your e-mail

Seriously though, that seems like a marketing ploy or something…

Certain S&C coaches have been doing their business that way for some time now, originally bashing bodybuilders and trying to bring as many skinny young guys into their fold as possible… Telling them that if they want to get big, they should (of course), train like the guys from Cirque De(du?) Soleil, or some pro-athlete with god-like genetics or whatever, or Reg Park (see my recent posts in the “Waterbury spreadsheets” thread in the bb forum for clarification of that particular issue)… And then they demand money in return for some routine that is nothing like what said individuals do, and shitty diet advice…

Maybe the guy who emailed you is usually cool… Who knows… Nobody’s perfect after all.

This reminded me of TC’s latest article.

I don’t think you should have responded to his first e-mail in the first place. You can usually tell what kind of response you’re gonna get by their first e-mail. These kinds of people are retahdedz.

Seriously worth a read, he was helpful to me and didn’t completely misread every post and go off topic.

Well it’s definitely not you. His panties are in a bunch.
I’m gonna take a guess here, and let me know if I’m way in left field… but I’m willing to bet he’s not very large?

The guy is a guru. When you pointed out that what he did was wrong, his only course of action was to say that you are wrong in the way you pointed it out, because he is a guru…(and the circle of reasoning continues based on the axiom that he can not be wrong, because…).

I love guys like that. They rail against other training as dogma presented by inferior trainers, yet present their own as if it were gold. If that guy isn’t trying to stomp on someone else to lift himself, I don’t know who is.

I consider that to be bad form as a professional and displays weakness of character of the person who does it.

Are you Reg Park? If not, why do you think I’m talking about you?

Actually, considering he is pretty tall (ex-basketball player) he has decent size. Not huge, but not your typical 7 foot stick figure. I just think he got a burr up his ass and believes his own press. IDK, I just know he made himself look like a tool and very unprofessional.
