Is Getting High Reps (Double Digits) on PR Sets Ok?

I’m in week 1 of my third cycle, lifting experience is what ever I’ve picked up over 2 years of crossfit. I’ve hit a new PR every week for squats. This most recent round for week 1 cycle 3 I landed 17 reps @ 200lbs. I think I should let it ride and follow the program, but I’m wondering if my starting point for a training max was so far off that I should retest / reset. My other lifts are in the low double digits for reps to hit a new max and I’ve generally hit that each week, so high but not as high as squats. Advice and feedback is appreciated. My gut feel is to leave it be and adding weight per cycle will take care of it.

You are in a very good spot, ride it out as long as you can. Lots of people make good progress with very low TM’s. Not that I’m remotely a data point of success, but coming back from a long injury all of mine are below 80% and things are moving nicely.

Im on the 8th cycle and its getting harder to do more reps than what it tells you to do. Enjoy as it doesnt last long. Adding weight and patience should solve your problem

I had the same experience several years ago when starting. I started my tm very low and remember hitting 315 for 17 on squats on the 5s week . It didn’t last long after a year was not hitting those numbers on or sets. Keep progressing as jim lays out and you’ll be fine

You sir need to adjust your TM. You should be hitting 5 reps EASILY on your last set of week 3 (5/3/1 week, i.e. 95%TM).
I was in your shoes and dropped my TMs 10%+ in some cases, until I could hit 5 reps on that last 5/3/1 set. The ego hit was worth it man.

I normally get 5+ reps but I mean that its not as easy as the firsts cycles where you get double digits

You should generally be able to hit five strong, fast reps with your training max when you begin a program. That will ensure that you have the correct TM.
