Is a 2000Lb Total What It Used to Be?

As for a 2000lb total… Is it impressive? Yes. Obviously it’s more impressive at lighter weight classes, or in less gear, but I don’t think a 2000lb total is UNimpressive regardless of weight and gear.

Man I like Donnie but every time I see that squat I want to vomit. I don’t know how to capture a screenshot and save it as a video but his depth is just pathetic. To even unrack that weight is a feat in itselft but come on…

What is more impressive to you guys? Adrews 2024 raw total in the 220 class or Donnies 2905 in SHW multiply?

Donnie’s squats were sky high, 910 bench wasn’t locked out, and his deadlift wasn’t locked out. Belyaev by a mile.

Squats were a major gift. Bench looked alright. The pull looked alright. I would say I’m more impressed by Donnie, but not this meet. He should have boombed on squats.

Overall I’m more impressed by Donnie, I like watching the bigger guys. Just to stir more shit up though, didn’t Donnie do a full power meet at NERB? I wonder what his total was? Hes squatted and pulled 800 raw I think.

I think he went low 8s/high 5s/low 8s. I remember him and Siders were pretty close, btu Siders wone the SHW

That was impressive. I have to agree, why go up only 5Lbs? Maybe a PR? But hell, having 1200+ on my back twice and I do not believe I would be able to finish the meet!

I LOLd that the guy is an experienced SHW, but only DLd about 100 lbs more than me. So sad.

Not to say he isn’t strong…but I honestly wasn’t all that impressed by the ref calls…

And yes, I do realize that at a certain point, weighing more doesn’t aid your DL. But still, a DL not much more than 2x bw?

Belyaev is the king of powerlifting at the moment, in my opinion, btw I found the results from NERB

  1. Brian Siders 785 + 635 + 820 = 2240 (355kg + 287,5kg + 372,5kg = 1015kg)
  2. Donnie Thompson 805 + 565 + 800 = 2170 (982,5kg)

Thompson is really strong without that 6ply kevlar gear too!!

Regardless of bodyweight, luck, loose judging, etc. you are hard-pressed to see a DL of much more than 800. Its a pretty small club of lifters that do much more than that.

He also strained a hamstring on his last squat, which is why he only pulled one deadlift, just enough to get the record.

Also, if I remember correctly he was redlighted on the 1230 squat so he took 1235. Not sure why he went up 5 lbs instead of staying the same, but I’m pretty sure that’s what happened.

2000 pound raw total is out of this world. If you listed all the people who have done it officially the list wouldn’t be awfully long.

Eric Lilliebridge, 19 years old, 2065 raw total in knee wraps. Fucking incredible.

It’s not just that he does it, but he makes it look easy.

Way off topic now. Take your pick. Eric’s 2065 raw total or Pat Mendes freak show?
