Feeling weak on the GM’s - Holy S*** man just looking at those numbers makes me cringe. nice work![/quote]

That’s exactly what I thought. I can’t wait till I get that weak on GMs.

TNT

Wednesday 06/18/08 DE Bench

Speed Bench 45x15x2 135x5x2 185x3 225x3x8
Lateral thingy 130x10x3
Seated Face Pull 160x10x3
Close Grip 4 Board Bench 225x10 275x5x5

Nothing special today except the air conditioner was working in the gym.

Saturday 06/21/08 ME Squat day?

Suspended GMS 65x8 155x5 245x3 335x3 385x3 425x3
Squat Machine 180x5 360x5 450x3 540x3 630x3 720x3
Dumbell rows 100x8 160x6x4
Shrugs 405x5 495x5 585x6x4
Chins BW+10x10x4

I was trying a few new and a few old things today. I have never done suspended good mornings. So they felt a little awkward. I haven’t used the squat machine in over a year and was the most weight I have used on it. I’m sure I could have done more. I had not done shrugs in 6 months also. All in all a pretty decent workout.

Sho 'nuff is. Nice poundages going there, Ironman.

Monday 06/23/08 ME bench

Mobility work
Bench Press 45x15x2 135x5x2 185x3 225x2 250x1 275x1 295x1 305x1 315x1 320 fail
Shirted Bench 365x1 385x1 395x1 405x1
Close grip 4 board 225x10x4

I hate Mondays. It’s hard to get a decent spot in the gym nowadays. Most of the gym members either speak only Spanish it seems or they just don’t know how to give a proper hand off. They try, but it’s either too much or not enough or off center.

Can’t ask the gym owner because he’s to busy running the place. If it sounds like I’m being picky please for give me. But if a hand off is not done right I could get injured or worse. I already had my shoulder hurt a year ago because the guy spotting me pulled the bar out of the groove as I was coming up with it.

An injury I’m still dealing with now I might add. I guess I should just be happy that someone is willing to give me a hand every now and then.

Ironman, good work and I understand your frustrations. Shoot, I’d like to find an average training partner…

Thursday 06/26/08 DE Squat Day

Mobility work
SSB Box squat 65x8x2 155x5x2 235x2 300x2x10
Pull throughs 215x10x4 (basically the whole weight stack)
Hammer low rows 180x8 270x5 360x5 450x3 470x6x4
Chins BW+10x10x5 alternated with
Rolling dumbell tricep press 30x10 35x10 40x10x3

I decided to add a little weight to my squats. They have felt too light over the past few workouts. I’m also pushing myself a little on everything else.

Saturday 06/28/08 DE Bench

Mobility work
Speed bench 225x3x8
Lateral Shoulder Machine 125x10x4
Face pulls 165x10x3
Close Grip 4 board 250x8x3

I had to rush through my workout. I didn’t want to be late for my daughter’s wedding. My wife was in a mad panic but we made it in plenty of time.

It do make women mad when you miss stuff like that. Congradulations. You’re moving some good weight. Like reading your thread.

Welcome Bro! Good to add another “Old School” strong ass brother to our group!

Thats a pretty heavy weight for a speed day, nice work. I generally don’t go above 165 - 185 on speed days but my max shirted bench is only 465. (Before surgery) Are you pretty fast with 225?

Fairly fast I would say. My max shirted is around 415 I would guess. I haven’t really tested myself on my shirted bench because I haven’t really mastered the shirt. Also I don’t lockout on my bench because of elbow problems. I’m usually a couple inches short though I do lockout on my max effort work.

07/02/08 ME Squat Day

Mobility work

Suspended GM 65x10x2 155x5 245x3 335x3 425x3 435x3 435x3
Squat Machine 180x6 360x6 540x4 630x3 720x5x3
Supported T Bar Rows 90x5 135x5 180x5 225x5 180x6x2
Shrugs 495x6 600x6x5
Machine Curls 100x10x4 superset with
Rolling Dumbell Tricep Press 35x10 40x10 45x10x3

Everything felt easy today. Might be because I’m on vacation this week and been getting plenty of rest.

07/04/08 ME Bench

Mobility work

Bench 45x15x2 135x5x2 185x3 225x2 250x1 275x1 300x1 320x1
Shirted Bench 365x1 385x1 395x1 410x1
5 board 410x3x2
Bradford Press 45x6 95x6 115x6 135x6x3
Face Pulls 175x8x3
Hammer Tricep Press 90x8 180x10x3

Bench felt strong today. I hit a newish pr but didn’t want to push it too much. I’ve done 450 in the past but didn’t bring it as low. I’m probably learning to use the shirt better.

7/06/08 DE Squat

Mobility Work
SSB Box Squat, warm up, 300x2x10
Pull Throughs 215x10x4
Hammer Low Rows 180x8 360x5 450x3 500x5x4
Hammer curls 105x8x4 alternated with
Rolling Dumbell press 45x10x4
Ab work

Thought I would throw in some ab work, maybe it will help my squat

Thats my kind of ab work, an afterthought. Very strong lifting. Might be stupid questions but are you able to get into your bench shirt alone or do you have help like the times I’ve seen other people use them? Do you take it off between every lift?

Welcome tp the forum

Very impressve log so far and at 52 inspirational to a beginner like me.

07/08/08 DE bench

Mobility Work

Speed Bench 225x3x8
Bradford Press 150x8x4
Hammer High Rows 360x10x4
Hammer Tricep press 230x10x4
Ab work

On speed bench I seemed to get faster on the last few sets. I think it may be because I am trying to protect my shoulder on the first few sets.

I have to have help getting it on. It is a closed back single ply Katana. Presumably legal in all equipped feds. I don’t take it off between sets because it takes about 5-10 minutes to put on and get adjusted correctly. Even then I still might have to tweak it a little more between sets. I don’t think I have quite figured the shirt out yet. Bench shirts can be difficult to master especially some of double ply shirts.

07/10/08 ME Squat

Mobility Work
SSB Suspended GM 425x3 440x3 450x3x2
Squat Machine 760x5x3
Supported T Rows 200x5x3
Shrugs 605x5x4
Ab Work

GM’s seem to be getting easier. Maybe I’m learning to turn it on a little better. Squat machine, still haven’t reached my max. Shrugs were easier also. I’m not sure why. Maybe someone else might have an explanation. I’m not doing anything different.

07/13/08 ME bench

Mobility work
Bench 275x1 295x1 305x1 325 fail(stapled)
Shirted 385x1 395x1
Dumbell Bench 80x12 100x10x2

Ugly day today. I smell a deload on bench. I’ve pushed it just a little too far.
