Jeez I’ve been so slack with this log lately. I have much to tell. Some good, some pretty shit.

The Good:

I’ve started lifting again! Today I went to my commercial gym and eased into some CGBench, Back Squats, DB Romanian Deads and a lot of stretching out my tender hammies. I’ve bought a mass gainer and a shit ton of food and I’m eyeing off 80kg. I forgot to weigh myself but I’m probs around 72kg now. This brings me to…

The Bad:

I have stopped Muay Thai. I hadn’t gone since going to Canberra and I was making up all sorts of excuses. I won’t bore you with my excuses but instead of sporadically doing calisthenics and running I’ve decided to use my time better and run a mass cycle.

The Ugly:

This is the real shit part and probably a big reason why I have been lacking motivation. I received an email from the Army titled ‘Held in Competition’. The email informs me that even though I received a yes at my Officer Selection Board, they have rescinded that and my future of going to Canberra will be reviewed in May. Keep in mind I have already been given the green light to be a Recovery Mechanic and a Quartermaster just waiting for the positions to become available. It’s never fuckin easy with these guys!

The program I am going to run TO THE LETTER starting next week:

It’s a Paul Carter version of 20rep squats. Has me squatting 3 times a week and has reasonable chest volume. After this program I think im going to get on a 4+ days a week full bro hypertrophy pump up workout :sunglasses:

When you can’t ask Irishman if he even lifts anymore so you retire to the dump

Yeah you weren’t around in my (attempted) lifting days ay? Makes me feel like an old bastard. Haha

@MarkKO & @mortdk I’m not going to lie, I was pretty filthy when I read the email but at the end of the day what can I do? Just keep getting stronger and better without them, that’s what. I’ve been feeling really small lately (especially legs) so that’s why I’ve decided to bulk up again.

Your not alone Duke, plenty of guys on this site are into MMA. Martial Arts is in my blood, I’ll never not do it for too long. When I find that perfect combo of discipline and coach than I will be set.

I’m sorry about the ugly news!! I agree with @MarkKO good attitude. The gym helps me so much when shit gets negative. Keep posting!

So I just used this week to acclimatise the ole body to resistance training again. I’ve just come home from my 3Rd session of the week.

2day I did 3 lots of agonist/antagonist movements with chest and back being the prime movers.

1St movement was seal rows superset DB Bench 4 sets of 10-18 (adding more reps as the sets went on).

2Nd was chins superset Dips 3x5

3Rd was seated cable rows superset pushups 3x10

Finished with some bike and air squats and BW lunges.

Holy DOMS from the squats I’ve been doing through the week! I love it! I’ve missed not being able to sit on the loo or go down stairs without assistance from a handrail! Haha

I’m going away this weekend. Hopefully keep the boozing to a minimum (hah). Can’t wait to get back and start my 20rep squats workout!
