OK, I want to open this thread up to TABLETS.
Anyone use one regularly? Pros/Cons? iPAD v Android v Other? GACKBerry?
The iPad is a great device no doubt. For playing games and surfing the web.
Same is said for some of the better Android tablets.
I’ve been a tablet owner for years of different types. I really find that they are useful and fill a niche. Like walking around the office doing remote IT work.
The best in my opinion are the ones you can connect to a stand and a keyboard. At some point you’ll want to type on it, and unless you’ve got swype or some other useful quick typing keyboard, on screen is just not ready. ( most iterations anyhow ).
I lean more towards a windows or an android as you can easily install different keyboards, where the iPad I believe would require jailbreaking if you could even install a different keyboard.

the biggest issue with android is fragmentation.
I have no idea what that means?

sorry didn’t finish typing it. Basically you’ve got some great devices with the best and latest android version, then you have about a billion crappy devices with different specs and then several versions of android.
The newest release that should be discussed on the 18th of Oct is Ice Cream sandwich and it is supposed to help unify the devices. Ex: Ice cream sandwich will be able to work on most every model meaning now you just have different hardware.
Fragmentation can make it difficult for the programmers to create software that easily flows across one device to another.
Where for iOS you know what you’re dealing with. Ice cream sandwich will make it easier, but it’s just a matter of time for things to get out there with the sandwich.

This is mainly due to Apple not having a new iPhone the past 4 months. iPhone 4S is selling almost twice as well as the first iPhone 4, so we’ll see how long Samsung holds this title for.
Lumia 900 already won 4 awards at CES 2012. It’s going to be one awesome phone.
I read about this last week and was wondering what you thought.
I want one, but looks like it’s US only and AT&T exclusive.
Either way, Nokia is going to do a big push for it and the rumoured release date is March 18th. My contract is up in April but if it’s not out in the UK by then, I’ll just wait.

My wife needs a new phone but has no preference. I will let you know if we pick one up.
