Someone found this on the previous update, and it works just the same for this one. I’ve had Mango for over a month now, it’s everything I could need.

Any tips? Cool apps? What are you using for Ring tones?

Well, the main new features are multitasking (hold the back button), I enable audio confirmations in settings and you can text and reply to texts via speech which works surprisingly well, you can group contacts, selective grouping of mailboxes and threaded email.

Check out this review here:

Apps wise, I don’t have that many, but try out SkyDrive Player (you can stream music from SkyDrive, which holds up to 25gb), Whatsapp for cross-platform chat, and I use mobudget for keeping track of finances.

I just have one of the standard ring tones, haven’t bothered making a custom one yet.

Notice how much faster it is? Even my photo quality has improved. Also, as apps get Mango enabled, you’ll notice they load and resume a lot faster.

Edit:
Also, when you hit the search button, you now have Shazam (Bing Audio) built in, Bing Vision for scanning tags and translating any text into any language and Scout. Very well done features.

What is th Windows CE ver on Mango? I’m notsure the update was sucessfull. When I go to settings and about it says Windows CE 7.0.7392 and not 7.5

Think I need to do it again?

Under settings - about I have:
Software: Window Phone 7.5
OS Version: 7.10.7720.68

Make sure you have the latest version of Zune, and maybe try again, it may have been a pre-update.

Took me awhile and three updates to get it loaded but you are right. It is screaming fast and the multi tasking is way cool. I like the conversation view in the mail and there seems to be allot of support for it in the market place.

The apps are going to grow a lot faster in the coming months, and Skype support is due in soon.

I’m just waiting for the Nokia handsets next year, they are releasing a Samsung Galaxy variant soon and a high-end “Nokia Ace” in Q1 2012 - those are the 2 new phones to look out for.

BTW, there is an app called Webtone which allows you to import ringtones via URLs from the web, I think it’s slightly easier than creating them via a desktop.

Coming out only in December… it’s like the 3GS upgrade all over again. Why the hell did they wait 18 months to underwhelm everyone?

Nothing to see here, moving on.

Lazy.

Excited to see the WP7 Nokias…

4S? Kinda weak. Those “S” updates are kinda lame. The new camera looks cool and I like the fact that you can quickly and easily edit/crop your photos right after taking them.

That new voice command thing is pretty cool as well. All in all its an OK update but nothing earth shattering. I’ll be skipping the “S” upgrade (just like I did with the 3)

I’m curious to see how the 4 performs with iOS 5. I’m willing to bet there will be at least some reduction in speed, that seems to be their MO.

I have an iphone 3 on its last legs. Been waiting for the new release before I upgrade. For those of you that have the 4, should I just upgrade to the 4 or is the 4s worth it since I’ll be staying an iphone user? Advice appreciated.

Although I don’t own one, I’ve used the 4 many times. iOS5 will leave out some features from the 4 down, the 4S does have some beefed up internals and a supposedly fixed antenna, so I would go for that if you’re going to upgrade and stick with Apple.

I would still advise you at least try the other 2 options out there, Android and WP7. They all have their advantages.

Son’s mother has the android and the phone’s reception is horrible and battery life terrible. The reception could be a service provider issue though. The battery life is well known.

Do you have a thumbnail pro/con for each? You seem to be up on this tech stuff. I just know the iphone is very intuitive (and I’m not an Apple guy) and I’ve been mostly happy with it. It’s my 2nd one (had the 2, now the 3).

the 4 (which i have) is night and day compared to the 3 (i didnt have the 3GS or whatever it was) I’m sure the 4S will be a huge upgrade. The newest features seem pretty cool. The new voice activation command thing wont be available for the 4 I hear so that would probably make the 4S worth it right there.

No idea about the android and windows phone cause I’ve never used them. I’m a big fan of my iphone 4 though. Also the new feature of 2 antennas seems pretty bad ass IMO. That SHOULD mean no more/not as many dropped calls…

I’ll be definitely getting a 4s.

blew Galaxy SII in my opinion.

Android is currently no where near as optimized or intuitive as the iPhone or WP7.5, but it does have the largest variety of phones available, and an endless list of features. You can customize till the cows come home, if you’re into that. I avoid it because I think the interface isn’t good at all, updates are hard to come by and it’s riddled with bugs and security flaws that keep popping up.

Apple will give you some of the best battery life you can get out of a smartphone, and its secure. It has some of the latest and greatest features coming out in iOS5, such as a BBM equivalent for iOS users. And finally it has a really good ecosystem if you’re a Mac guy. I’m not, and I cannot stand iTunes, which is part of the reason why I moved on to something else. Every update Apple released made the phone slower until it was practically unusable. I don’t see that changing either, as they only have one phone they’ll do all they can to make sure people upgrade as often as possible.

Windows Phone isn’t even a year old, but they are working up to being a good competitor with the other 2 in the long run. Don’t let the “Windows” brand fool you. The OS is the most intuitive, stable and smooth of the lot, hands down. Granted not everyone will like it, but it is unique. I like that where you’d need 10-15 apps on the other 2, it’s built in from the start. Contacts and photos are automatically stored in a Live/Hotmail account in case you lose your phone. As for cons, I’d say the app selection is still very small (30k), it’s a love/hate interface and you won’t be getting hardware as good as Android or Apple have to offer. At least not until Nokia brings out some phones.

You can’t really go wrong with any of them, it all comes down to preference.

Who cares about a damn phone? How many homeless people did you completely ignore and even purposely avoided today?

Whores.
