IPF Champion Of Champions Meet $300k + Prize

I wouldn’t say Hafthor has deadlift leverages though. It’s not so much “tall guy leverages” but specifically those that suit the conventional deadlifter, which is a short torso paired with the long longs.

Thor is just a plain giant in general, but seems proportional. Contrast that with Mark Felix, who is a deadlifting machine, long limbed and with a stout torso. And granted, Mark hasn’t done anything in the world of powerlifting from what I know, but he’s never really shined in pressed or squatting events compared to the pull.

No details. Just acknowledged he isn’t at his best and implies better to come in future

So it gets even more weird, turns out that Dennis Cornelius actually had the biggest total in the whole meet, 947kg vs. Ray’s 937.5. Dennis is like some kind of mutant.

As per Ray he also did just get married so that will add a lot to his life that wouldnt be training. I think (hope) he will bounce back.

I think they all should have been called the same but due to the knees being further out I can see how in the moment the 3rd was the only one being passed.

In any other Fed I think they are all to depth and borderline in IPF but I am not a judge.

I had made an entire thread about this but didnt post it, I guess I should have LOL

Head is in same place each lift. Knees get further wider each attempt. Singlet changed for 3rd and belt wore a bit higher (hard to tell but that is what Rus said in his recap).

Too much cardio killing his gains

From this angle it’s impossible to tell for sure, but it’s certainly not ridiculously high. If you look at where his hamstring is in relation to the bottom of his knee sleeve it looks like he’s a bit deeper in the last picture. But as I was saying earlier, the IPF is known for red lighting good squats and although they seem to have gotten less stupid in recent times, people are saying that the judging here was inconsistent once again. You ever hear that saying, “better to let a thousand guilty men walk free than to convict one innocent”? The IPF looks at it the other way around.

To be fair Ray Ray lost a lot of this total. I thought once u go untested u can’t go back? Hasn’t Dennis been all over the USPA and WRPF or something

Guilt beyond a reasonable doubt lol. Not depth beyond a reasonable doubt?

Pretty sure it was USPA tested division so IPF couldn’t complain. Dennis isn’t just a mutant, he’s smart.

He did a few USPA meets, and as a result he was banned from IPF/USAPL for a year or so. It’s not about it being tested or not, the IPF has some rules that if you compete at an international level then you aren’t allowed to compete in any other fed and now I think the ban is like 3 years or so. Dennis said he was pissed off when they told him he was banned because it was before he even did the meet, he just mentioned online that he was planning to lift in a particular USPA meet and they turned around and banned him. I was surprised he went back to the IPF, as far as I know it had to do with the shit judging on day 2 at the US Open last year when every squat got at least one red light, he looked like he could squat 1000 in wraps.

Last I remember the IPF rulebook had something about when there is any doubt they are supposed to rule in favor of the lifter, so if a squat is borderline depth technically it should pass. Obviously that isn’t how it plays out in real life.

Super strong super intelligent mutants? Is that those reptilian people I have been hearing about?

The dates arent perfect but not for nothing Kelly Branton tested positive June 14th (or at least that is when the public knew). June 4th was IPF Worlds where Ray bombed out after barely being able to walk out 440kg. Ray also dropped like 15kg the last couple weeks before the meet. If Ray had any kind of info he would have stopped everything ASAP.

I kind of think that Flexx’s coaching skill is having an inside WADA guy or undetectable drug source. Ray being close to the Football world (also “drug tested”) would be in an ideal place for the same sources.

I dont know too much about drug use but you’re saying that drop in performance at the meet say vs training numbers is sus? There’s a lot of that going on from what i see

I think they should just make everything untested tbh. Remove the doubt.

Some more drug-free USAPL madness - 263kg/580lbs bench press at 105kg/231lbs (2nd video)
https://www.instagram.com/p/B35L_HuBlCQ/

What makes this even more incredible is that the full meet IPF record at 105kg is 230.5kg and this same guy set the bench-only record in May with 247.5kg. He added 15.5kg to his already incredible bench in 5 months, and did it in a full meet where he broke the record by 32.5kg. If he was in a fed that had 24hr weigh ins he could easily make 220 and beat Mike Macdonald’s all time world record of 573.2lbs which has stood since 1974.

I think I’m going to start competing untested because it seems like the only place I have a chance now, the drugs clearly make you weaker. When people ask me I’ll be like “I take steroids, I swear”, and maybe inject some saline solution in the warmup room if there is any doubt.

Label a Pez dispenser “Dbol” for extra good measure.

I might do that just for shits and giggles…and I already found the perfect one:

what is your opinion on this SSJBob guy from youtube? Did a 340kg deadlift

BBC genetics lol

I already had the impression that something wasn’t right after seeing a post that showed his numbers from his first meet in July and his recent training lifts. His name is Bobb Matthews, you can look him up on OpenPL. So while he pulled 750lbs in this meet, 3 month ago he pulled 661 and failed 700, not sure what he training PR was at the time but adding 50-90lbs to your deadlift in 3 months is not exactly normal. He also went from a 623 squat to 667 at the meet and 690 in training. There isn’t much else to say.

Here’s some thing funny. Last night I looked at the Canadian Powerlifting Union site (IPF affiliate) and checked out the doping suspensions. There is a guy who got caught with 11 banned substances, a bunch of steroids and PEDs plus weed (which was banned at the time). I looked him up on OpenPL and he is a bench only lifter, best bench was 369lbs at 105kg and in the meet where he tested positive he benched about 350. The guy is on a boatload of drugs for real, and that’s all he can manage? Just pathetic.

I used to train at the same gym as a dude who is on a fair bit of shit and has been for around five years. He’s around 190 lbs, can’t get beyond 200 lbs. He’s tried, apparently. He has yet to bench 275 in meet either raw or multiply; his best squat (multiply) is 528 lbs; and I’m almost certain he hasn’t even gotten to a 550 lbs deadlift in meet.
