She advertises her height as 1.50m or 5ft, competes at 56kgs, and she posted a video of her losing around 5kgs in 24h before a wigh in, so she´s lean but fairly big for her height.
Anyways, she’s never explicitly claimed natural and doesn’t, from what I understand, compete in a tested federation, so I guess it doesn’t matter if she’s on gear.
4.5xbodyweight deadlift is just impressive- drugs or not
ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! If Powerlifting wants to gain popularity it needs cash prizes. It should also do a better job of embracing technology. There is no reason that judging couldnt be completely done by computer recognition software. And once it is developed it would be incredibly cheap. Hell my phone has a bar path app FFS. It also needs better live feeds and live scoreboards.
IPF points winner will definitely be female and not Ray Williams. Ray should have a nice “consolation” prize of biggest total though.
Ray kind of broke IPF points IMO. If I total 820 at 100 I get more points as him totaling 1100 at 190, that shit broke. Luckily in theory they can update it yearly (or ideally constantly).
Or at the very least a side view camera if there are any questions regarding squat depth. It seemed to me like in the last couple years the IPF judges were finally pulling their heads out of their asses, but here they are with the same old story again:
“His last 2 Squats were Red-Lighted by the Side Judges even though he clearly hit depth in my opinion - his last squat got overruled by the Jury to a good lift in the end”
https://www.instagram.com/p/B30eMqNBPhj/
At the IPF worlds in Belarus a couple years ago it was the same thing, they red lighted his squats and the jury overturned it. I get the impression they have some sort of vendetta against Ricks, maybe they want him out of the way so the younger guys can have a chance?
Thank you for him, I will quit when I am dead.
I screen shot all of Russ’s squats. His head was at the same height for all 3 lifts. The only difference was how wide his knees were. It must make it look deeper…he also changed out of his Get Better singlet into a Titan singlet so read into that what you will ![]()
You could also argue his chest was a bit more up for his 3rd so his head at the same height would actually be a deeper squat but that is really hard to tell. Quad angle all looked the same too.
That’s the draw back of hip shift/ twisted pelvis. One side hip can be Good depth while the other side hip is high.
Squat higher today lol
I think all them high squat PRs for the gram finally caught up with him
Ray really isn’t winning, looks like he went natty.
Bodyweight: -13kg
Squat: -90kg
Bench: -45kg
Deadlift: -50kg
Wait who won SHW then
I haven’t seen a good video of his squats, are you saying they were all high or the judging was fucked up? I know he’s an Instagram attention whore so I don’t give him the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah, but that would get you one red light so the lift should still pass. And according to the King of The Lifts guy, there was a lot of bad judging at this meet anyway.
That’s messed up, especially after he bombed out of Worlds. Unless he’s real sick or something, that must be it.
I looked it up since you got me wondering, Ray still won but he was only 2.5kg ahead of the next guy. That’s fucking crazy because he was miles ahead of anyone else, even Jezza Uepa couldn’t come close to him due to his deadlift. Ray’s lifts here were lower than his openers in other recent meets, it makes me wonder why he didn’t just drop out. Unless he has some sort of explanation, it’s probably as @BOTSLAYER said, and he looks like he’s basically finished.
Results here:
But he hasn’t even started yet :c
What do you mean?
He stops when I say he stops. Until then he keeps entertaining us with WRs

Well, he was on a roll for a while, I thought he might one day squat 1100 and pull 900. Worlds was disappointing, but this is even worse.
This is really off topic and I’m sorry for being the one to do that but I has kwestjun.
How come it seems that most mere mortals pull far more than they squat yet the elites seem to squat more than they pull?
Keep in mind the deadlift is the final lift in a competition. So you’re asked to do it after 3 max effort squat and 3 max effort benches, after a full day of competing, getting psyched up, and possibly dealing with the effects of weight cutting. Many folks are just plain exhausted at this point in the competition. This makes comparing the squat to the deadlift in a meet a bit different compared to in the gym.
Then factor in that (if you’re competing to win the class) many times you just need to deadlift to total, and a conservative deadlift that wins is better than a ballsout one that loses. You have a better understanding of what you need to do by the deadlift compared to the squat.
After that, you can look into how having a super big belly can benefit squatting while getting in the way of a conventional deadlift.
SHWs under 6foot be fat af. I mean massive af lol.
To get sexy deadlift you need solid positions and leverages. Lots of muscles makes it harder to get into starting positions and you have to pull the bar over ur quads and for the massive guys this knocks it out in front of them.
Big squat leverages probably aren’t big deadlift leverages so for powerlifting you’d rather be mega squat + solid deadlift then meh squat + deadlift specialist leverages at SHW.
I also feel like the leverages that contribute well to squatting also contribute well to benching assuming symmetry (short legs and short arms on a big torso), while those leverages suck for dead. Meanwhile, good leverages for a conventional dead are crappy pressing leverages. So dudes who are built to pull tend to not be built well for the sport in general.
Taller strongman style leverage guys have done well also. Obviously their total might not be as squat dominant but the squat might not suffer as much as one would think.
Hafthor was super close to breaking the ATWR raw total for powerlifting. Wasn’t squat strength that let him down. One or two inches of squat depth (due to harsh judging at other meets wouldve passed) and hand tearing / grip was the difference.
Plenty of powerlifters have tall guy leverages and are pretty successful Luke Richardson and Pavlo Nakonechnny are the top juniors and would’ve had an incredible head to head battle For years if Richardson hadn’t moved to strongman.
