Intervention, The T Nation Edition

I’m calling out that @usmccds423 guy. Dude’s been lifting for like a decade and is still weak as fuck.

Being trained to kill with one’s hands doesn’t count?

Lol, I didn’t really start lifting until after that.

Kill, shmill. If you can’t knife-strike a guy in the chest, pull out his beating heart, and show it to him before he dies, your strength is pathetic.

In his defence, @Benanything did post twice declaring his urge to start a thread like this.

He based his decision to actually start it on the number of likes he received, which means he assumed there was demand for this thread since no one told him not to do so.

Taking into account that there are age and cultural differences as people here are from different countries, and this is the internet age where things like demand have been made easily quantifiable but often misleading, I believe his actions were more misguided than a display of any negative aspects of his character.

For myself, that lying weasel got under my skin. I’ll do what I did again and more if he continues with his nonsense.

I thought so too. I was just linking to it as an exchange I’ve been part of.

For the record- I don’t think that discussion and implementation of training methods used by olympic medalists and record holders is shitposting.

Hope it’s working out well for you. I should break 400 on the dead lift by the end of the year, and was discussing that method with another friend that may start using it too.

This is rediculous and you should be asshamed. Do you hold your pinky out while you drink it?

Me: I did a couple weeks of Shawn T’s beach body training videos once. :man_facepalming:

Yeah I normally can’t be bothered with people like this. I was going to leave him alone until he started posting in the steroid section and we had an exchange in a thread I entered only because another poster tagged me.

FWIW, I apologize for dragging you into this mess.

I wanted someone (with a more AAS knowledge than I have) to chime in and set the youngster in that thread straight in that specific thread.

Unfortunately, our friend showed up and is determined to a) keep dispensing his shitty advice, b) getting hurt in the feels when you point out he probably isn’t the best person to be giving advice, and c) blaming you for the circular series of confrontations. He keeps whining that you “dig up” his personal history, and the sticky-wicket about this is that the specific element of his personal history which is the most sensitive to discuss on a public forum does happen to be intertwined with whether he is a good person to be giving said advice. It’s a catch-22. If you point out that element of his personal history, he calls you a lowlife for bringing his personal life into it (which he freely shared on this forum) but seems to be missing the critical factor that it is actually kinda relevant. A 22-year-old recovering drug addict that is using steroids within months of getting sober cannot possibly have an adequate perspective on AAS use to advise youngsters, and yet he keeps jumping in and doing so.

I don’t really agree with Benanything’s decision to start this thread, but I do agree that the first poster in question has been posting advice for noobs, giving them the impression that he’s actually worth listening to, taking away the sense of validation and belief that he is doing them a great service when they thank him for the advice, without understanding that the people so profusely thanking him for his advice are the least-equipped to understand whether his advice is any good or not.

No, don’t be silly. You did not drag me into anything lol. Also, that kid would most likely have gone ahead with his plans to cycle anyway. You can’t stop them. All you can do is post counters to his reasons for his decisions so that other kids who are still on the fence will make the right decisions when they read them.

Deleted. Not suitable material for this section.

Yeah, I am not saying anything until I see information given out that could possibly be detrimental to someone. I have a strange suspicion at the moment and I want to see if it is accurate or not.

Yeah, so, about this thread. Callouts are… kinda whatever. If someone feels the need to callout another dude, go for it. If it’s justified, it’ll gain traction and they’ll have some ‘splainin’ to do. If it’s unjustified, you look like a tool and get appropriate grief.

This forum doesn’t do things like real names-only or mandatory/verified pics, so people are (unfortunately) somewhat free to claim whatever. Guys pretend to be vikings or birds or vampires or whatever, that they wouldn’t do in rational sit-down conversation, but as long as they move things forward and contribute somewhat-decently, it’s all good overall.

SB is basically operating just shy of RogueVampire territory (“I only have a low res webcam but I’m jacked, trust me. I just don’t know anybody with a smartphone and haven’t been photographed in the last 6 months”) and he’s been deliberately vague about some stuff which, on one hand, is his right - plenty of guys withhold info on the forum. But on the other hand, you can’t really open the door to a subject and half-mention it and then say “… but we’re not gonna talk about that”. Because that’s a dick move.

Like with any poster, if you see them giving outright bad advice in a thread, call bullshit on it then and there. If it’s super-bad, flag it and a Mod can give it a double-check.

Like, see, there’s this for example…

You’re 22. How much younger could you possible have been when you started using steroids? You’ve said you lifted from 17-20, then went to jail, got out a few months ago, and jumped on AAS soon thereafter.

Or something like this:

Everything in training, nutrition, and supplements is questionable. Everything. You and I touched on this topic when we talked about pre-bed protein intake. We literally have opposite perspectives on the subject, and it’s totally fine. If you think there’s one right way to do anything, you’re flat-out wrong and you’re going to end up being a terrible trainer.

So, yeah, as I’ve said before SB strikes me as a combo of well-intentioned, sorta-troll-y, and whiny. But for anyone, the forum is what we make it. Well-respected vets don’t become well-respected vets overnight, and guys new to the forum have to earn their stripes. Adapt and thrive or wilt and fade away.
