One of the most boss sessions I’ve ever read. I thought I was cool with my 705 x 3 HIGH rack pull, would love to try those Anderson squats for the feeling of more weight on my back, most likely only to fail with about half the weight you used. Without a belt using over 300lb more then your reg. squat = mind explodes. BEASTMODE
how did you go about choosing the pin height for the andersons? is it supposed to be 2/3 of the lifters height or something? #doesnotknowhowtocalculate

Good shitake, thats a poop tonne of weight! Depressingly enough, I probably Anderson squat what you free squat…
Although I can’t help but indulge in a bit of Oly lifter superiority complex here as I rep out front squats with a clean grip @245lbs for e-z money. U mirin’ brah?!
Yeah I’m mirin’ Swoleo. Srs though the weights were all easy it’s just so awkward front squatting for the first time I’m sure I can get 315+ beltless no problem once I get used to it.
Y u mad doe?
Because I want to be teh best

855??? IS THIS THE REAL LIFE?
Goddamnit man that is just insane weight. I’ve never even seen an Anderson squat and I’m still impressed as hell.
Will be stopping by your log before my workout tomorrow for motivation. I’ll probably have to squat until I tear a quad or two to feel like a man compared the truck over here though.
I would’ve done 945 unfortunately there was no more room on the bar.
Fucking awesome man.
I don’t think it was anything extraordinary. I’m pretty sure anyone that spent some time with this could manage twice their squat if there’s room on the bar of course ;). Thanks though. It was pretty awesome to do.

How I chose the pin height for me was to take the pins and set them a slot below where the hooks were? The hooks take up two slots (the 6 and 7) so I set the pins at the 8. The ROM is about a half squat for me because I squat wide (not THAT wide though).

Anderson squats
495x1 held these longer this time
585x1
675x1
765x1 lost my balance because the bar was slanted so I didn’t hold this one
the bar was maxed out (I had to use the women’s bar this time) so I couldn’t continue Strict press
unracked from the pins
135x10 threw in a few pauses
205x1 pretty warmed up CG incline bench
Each rep was paused for a count or two
135x10
225x4 PR not that hard had maybe 3 more in me
Not bad considering I haven’t inclined in months and I suck at CG incline Tbar rows
on the wannabe tbar machine
1platex10
3platesx10
4platesx10 PR I think for this machine
Not gonna lie … didn’t that bad … besides the pressure on chest and stomach which I hat about the machine Smith machine shrugs
leaned forward as the sets progressed
245 for 3 sets of I don’t know how many reps
A nice little session

Blasting off at the speed of light
Anderson squats make pretty good work for the core and glutes. They shouldn’t replace traditional ab work but they’re pretty good at training tightness as well as being a confidence booster. They’re that taxing either, so they could easily be done before every training session if you push it to the limit each time and moderate the stress on body, but honestly, even with the really heavy weights, I feel like I could do them all day.

Hey spar4tee when are we going to get some videos of these big lifts man. It would be awesome if you could video some of them.
Seriously though when i did them about a year and a half ago i felt like i was going to explode. I have a video somewhere in the BOI around july of 2010. Interesting, i might just add them back in to scare all the resolutioners away and piss off all the pussies afraid of any noise in a gym.
I would say that front squat holds and heavy walkouts have more merit towards actually helping me with my squats. But there is something about having a huge amount of weight on you shoulders that helps the next time you go to squat. I strained something im my lower back and haven’t done them since.

Yeah I’m not expecting any carryover at all. My squat builds itself, so I’m not really concerned about that. I’m simply doing them for the confidence boost as well as for fun. Anderson squats are also proving a decent activation exercise for me. I’ll put up fresh vids eventually.
Love the CG Inclines feel like they hit the tris more than the flat kind, the meaty part right above the elbow seems to get good work from the inclines.

Yeah I was loving them. I’ll definitely be doing more of them.
