YOU ARE A DISAPPOINTMENT TO YOUR MOTHER AND I
jklulz. I never really front squatted until last summer, then I finally tried the straps grip and experienced the win. If they feel way too awkward and you can’t really get the bar into place right with one of the “normal” grips, definitely look into the straps grip.
I don’t exactly know what a double paused dead entails, but I hope both new lifts work well for you.

- Pull a little bit
- Stop
- Pull a little more
- Stop
- Lock it out
- ???
- Profit
Good luck with 'em, Spar, they’re humbling as hell with 1 pause…

FUCK THIS Ill leave this to you guys!
Front squat
used straps
135x2 was pretty awkward
185x1 still awkward
225x1 ridiculously awkward
275x0 FUARK the weight slid off my left shoulder and I had to rack it
These were all light it’s just that the bar is too thick to rest in the groove of my delts along my clavicles. Just not enough room there. I know because I had the bar pressing against my larynx. I’ll just have to push my elbows even higher. I will not be using 225 as my baseline PR. That’s ghey.
to redeem myself
Anderson squats?
slot 8
all beltless (but I don’t think that matters)
held all of them for like 3-5 seconds
405x1 PR
495x1 PR
585x1 PR I was half-expecting this to be hard; I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t
675x1 PR Really started feeling my obliques
765x1 PR Really understanding the stress geared squatters but on their bodies; my skeleton felt this
855x1 PR WHEW felt like a truck nuff said
all PRs since this was my first time with this lift
CG bench
135x6
225x6
255x3
275x3
315x1
335x1 PR had 1 more in me
Double paused deads
135x2 this was awkward
315x2 this was kinda hard
405x2 this was horrible
455x2 baseline PR this was worse
Double pauses are of the devil. They’re harder for three reasons.
- The upper back rounding
- The killing of momentum
- Ignoring the urge to explode through the lift
CG bench no feet
225x15 PR
U mirin’? PB … Mmatt? Yeah y’all mirin’.
WG pullups
2 sets
these felt great
Rope pushdowns ss Stiff arm rope pulldowns
nice way to finish the session

here’s the 855
glutes were tight as hell on those last few sets of Anderson squats
I agree with your assessment of the paused deads. Must’ve been amazing have 800 on your back. Good stuff as always.

It was enlightening as well as exhilarating. It’s just one of those experiences. Still worlds away from free squatting it though ![]()
855??? IS THIS THE REAL LIFE?
Goddamnit man that is just insane weight. I’ve never even seen an Anderson squat and I’m still impressed as hell.
Will be stopping by your log before my workout tomorrow for motivation. I’ll probably have to squat until I tear a quad or two to feel like a man compared the truck over here though.

I think Paul Anderson was doing them with 1300 plus two chicks. I would’ve done 945 unfortunately there was no more room on the bar.
I’m thinking about reducing the frequency of heavy pulls from the floor and focusing more on building them like Liquid does.
Good shitake, thats a poop tonne of weight! Depressingly enough, I probably Anderson squat what you free squat…
Although I can’t help but indulge in a bit of Oly lifter superiority complex here as I rep out front squats with a clean grip @245lbs for e-z money. U mirin’ brah?!

Yeah I’m mirin’ Swoleo. Srs though the weights were all easy it’s just so awkward front squatting for the first time I’m sure I can get 315+ beltless no problem once I get used to it.
