Man, I swear you look just like an old trainin partner of mine.

Here is how I do reverse band pulls…work up to a heavy ish single without the bands, when you reach that point add the bands and keep workin up with singles. It will work your grip and lockout. Make sure the bands are rigged so as to provide little to no assistance at the top.

I go ahead and use the elite fts strong bands. More help off the floor, but set it up right and they get loose at the top for a more extreme difference.

Interview with Strongman Barry Von Perkins This guy is pretty awesome. I’ll be checking out his gym this summer.

I’m going to abandon the original plan of testing maxes. I just no longer have the urge to do so anymore, so I’ll be going to shift the focus back on building my lifts, which is honestly more important.

Thanks. If your referring to grip width, then yes, since the past year I’ve been using exclusively close grip on my main lifts for bench.

seems to be quite a few guys train bench that way, eg. that dude Ben? who deadlifts like 750 in these very logs.

interesting since I maxed 220 for 2 + 1 forced rep on CGBP when I focused on them despite incline benching on chest day in the same week and the fact I wouldn’t have put my standard bench above 242.

seems all big benchers use cgbp… and lots use dips. hmm. may have to start using these movements more seriously again

What made you decide to switch to CG pressing? Just stronger that way? Or is it just something that you think will carryover nicely to ‘regular’ grip??

The first reason was simply that wider grips over time caused me shoulder and wrist pain. Secondly close grip has excellent carryout to regular bench and has yielded me more gains. It’s my best bench indicator.

Close grip is just great for bench period. Dips with 180 hanging from you won’t hurt your bench either.

Strong triceps never hurt anyone’s bench.

I’m going to be doing a few things differently training wise for a little while. We’ll see what it does for me.
