Haven’t tried it yet. I’m waiting til I lift with my friends, so I have a reliable spot.

Alright here’s what happened
Push press
135x2
after this I started alternating push press and strict press
155x2/135x3
175x2/145x3
195x2/155x3
215x1(this flew up real fast and easy)/165x3
235x0(FAIL wth),0(attacked it this time went a little higher FAIL)/175x3
205x1
So now I’m seriously trying to understand why I can’t push press 10lbs more than my best strict press.
points to analyze:
When push pressing, I typically have a hard time getting it past wherever my legs get the bar. Working the lockout/tris would make sense. I’ve noticed that I need to kind of grease the groove more for push pressing vs. strict pressing. Sticking with may help with only push pressing 10 lbs more than you can strict press.

Not even 10lbs more lol. Definitely will doing teh lockout work.
forgot to mention session took about 35 minutes
Im in two minds about push pressing. My strict pressing definitely increased when I started including them, but they can be very hard to track progress on as you can never be exactly sure how much variation in the amount of “push” you gave the bar week to week. For me at least…

Yeah. I drove the bar to about my forehead (the same place where the lift gets hard for me with strict press) and got stuck. I think it’s a combination of upper back strength (a more solid shelf to support the drive against the bar) and lockout strength (powering through the finish). Also the fact, that I haven’t done push press in a while and haven’t committed a lot of volume to the exercise. I’m gonna need more push pressing, lockout work, and more upper back work, prioritizing strict press after push press.
My lats are pretty sore. They’re might be something to those sternum chins.
Push press/Strict press
alternated sets
135x3/2
145x3/2
155x3/2
165x3/2
175x3/2
185x3/2
195x3/2 still had strength to continue but I was bored with it by this point
Seated pin press
slot 10; bench @ ~80 degrees; all reps were from a dead stop
195x3
215x3 PR
235x2 PR at this point I began enlisting my battle cry/war scream for all sets (it worked)
245x1 PR
255x0,0,0,1 PR
265x0,0,0,0,1 PR
275x0,0,0,0,0 decided to throw in the towel
The first 2" were the hardest but after that I was able to finish. I really hope these carryover well to my push press. A positive carryover to bench or strict press wouldn’t hurt either lol.
then upper back work
Rope face pulls
25%stackx20
40%stackx10
55%stackx10,10
Unilateral pulley high rows
25%satckx10 (each side)
40%stackx12 (each side)
50%stackx15 (each side)
60%stackx10 (each side)
65%stackx8 (each side)
I really like those
Sternum chins
did a couple
Ended with ~10 minutes of jump rope
You gonna be at golds tonight? I’m hittin up bench around 530, I’ll swing by the Van Ness site if you’ll be there.
edit: Nice log btw, you’re a strong dude

No, I won’t be there. I’m celebrating my mom’s bday today. Thanks.
I’d like to squat 700 upon graduation.
I think it would be fun if everyone that reads this log measured their arms and reported back by noon.
I’ll be doing a lot of work with the ab wheel tonight. Probably throw in some pushups too. Squats later today or tomorrow depending on how I feel.

another pic
It’s a new year folks, but don’t forget. Yesterday is still yesterday. We have work to do.
Arms measure at 17.2"
I figure after I hit the 545 squat that I’ll up the reps a bit and do more Olympic style squats to beef my legs up a bit. They’re not small at ~28" but I’d like to even them out a bit.
<----------- this guy just bought Skyrim … wish him luck
LOL my roommate is addicted to that game! Im not a big gamer myself…
