If anyone perceives that not much more than a mere modicum of thought has gone into training, that’s the point. My higher thought processes are occupied with academics, and my brain needs a break. So long as it’s not retarded and I’m still making gains and enjoying myself, I could hardly care less.

What do you study out of curiosity?

I’m majoring in exercise science and minoring physics. I’m a freshman though, so my schedule’s all core courses until next semester.

Anyone who’s giving you shit because of your “less than optimal super strict planning” routine is probably an idiot anyway or likely doesn’t know your age / how much work you’ve been putting in. Whatever man. People can be very douchey, if not jealous.

By the way… can I formally request a legitimate picture? The one for the profile picture is whack and it wouldn’t be bad to see some updates every now and again. But no worries if not.

Sumo deads (trying these out)
240x3
305x3
390x3
430x1
470x1 back was pretty sore after this
Sumo was pretty frustrating. The weight’s not heavy, but I can’t keep the bar against my body because of the inside grip. I’ll experiment with different stance widths.
switched to conventional
505x1 left it there
Defecit deads (off the blue plates about 2.5-3")
305x3
370x3
410x3
Tbar rows
1platex15
2platesx10
3platesx10
4platesx10
5platesx10 PR
5plates+25x10 bigger PR
CG chins
these felt far superior to wide grip pullups

No worries. It wasn’t a direct response to anyone; it was simply an explanation of why I train the way I do. I don’t really take pics of myself, but there will definitely be one in the next few months when I have someone take one. I’m self-conscious and I’ve never taken a decent picture of myself lol.

And by whack did you mean good or bad?

bench today

CG bench
barxsome
135xsome
185xsome
225x5
275x3
305x3,4 wanted 5 (the first set I just couldn’t get tight for some reason; and on the second one my tris tapped out; the bench that fits me best was taken so I’m taking that into account as well)
Basically my pecs and shoulders were doing all the work. Tris need strengthening as well as upper back, so I guess I’ll start throwing barbell rows to my chest and some type of supine lockout work to my bench sessions.
Weighted dips
bwx10
bw+45x5
bw+90x5
bw+135x5
bw+155x4 I could’ve gotten one more I guess but chose to play it safe
Strict press
95xsome
135x4
165x2
195x3 good for probably two more on these
Dips (didn’t happen)
I initially wanted to do 50 total reps with bodyweight on these, but I forgot. derp
Close grip chins
just focused on my back (didn’t give shit about anything else other than tension in my back)
Rope curls
only 2 sets not even intense lol

Very strong. Impressed

thanx

I think I’m gonna try benching Thibs style next time and see how it works out.

squats tomorrow

Didn’t make it to the gym today. There was work to be done and I didn’t sleep a wink last night. I plan on doing two-a-days both tomorrow and Friday. Tomorrow will be ME/RE squats, RDLs, and CG chins in the early afternoon and then CG bench (w/ and w/o feet), weighted dips, pin presses, high rep shrugs, and barbell rows to chest. Then Friday, I’ll do speed pause squats, defecit deads, and deads from plates, tbar rows, and CG chins in the early afternoon and later incline bench, seated pin presses, high pulls, light/explosive bench, CG chins. I actually want to get close to burning out since finals week is next week and I don’t when next time I can lift will be. If I ever get the time, I’ll do a quick arm/abs/calves workout with some heavy rack deads from above the knees and bodyweight dips.

Goals for this week are a 450x3 defecit dead, 470x5 dead from plates, 6platesx10 tbar row, and no feet CG 300 for reps.

The two-a-day I envisioned for today is now going to have to become a long ass session due to extenuating circumstances. Should be fun.

Squat
135x3
225x3
added knee sleeves
315x3
added belt
405x3
455x4 PR only needed 3 could’ve done 1 or 2 more
RDL
155x2x8
I suck at feeling my hammies
CG chins
same deal just focusing on my back
CG bench (thumbs right next to the smooth)
135x10
205x9
245x5
295x3
325x3 PR I guess
no feet (my first time doing this)
225x7
255x5
275x4
Pin press (slot 12; about halfway through the ROM)
315x1 went up pretty quick and smooth
345x0 didn’t break the pins
the lockout starts at midrange IMO
some more CG chins
BB row to the chest
135x10,10 that was it
that’s the session sans dips and shrugs
I’m tired as fuck

Last night I wouldn’t have thought I be contemplating this, but I really feel like heading to the gym today. It’ll be relatively brief and easier than last night. I plan to work up to a reasonably heavy strict press (maybe a PR with 215 or something like that), then some side raises and then 50 reps of weighted dips, polish off upper body with CG chins and high BB rows, and then some GMs and alternating leg curls.

Oh yeah and I just about fixed my bench tech issue. It turns out I wasn’t actively rowing the bar into my sternum/chest and that was weakening both my arch and the rebound/explosion off my chest as well as jarring my bar path. Now I just strengthen my midrange and lockout.

I’ve heard that a bench doesn’t really die mid-range, and that if it does than it’s probably either technique or being weak off of the chest and not being able to power it through. Steve Pulcinella said that. I guess it’s either off chest or lockout? Food for thought lol. Str0ng stuff.
