your only 29?!
Hmmmm, that’s a really good freaking idea!

Yes, I’m 29, is that a problem? :)
You’re so old.

That’s all… you can resume your regularly scheduled programming now

Wow, thanks for showing up Court, you’re always such a gem!!

8-31-10 Bench Press

Warmed up ‘properly’ after watching all of Dave Tate’s “So you think you can bench?” series, definitely helped and felt a lot better.
195x3
220x3
250x4* Actually very happy I hit an extra rep this week, with the past few weeks sucking for bench rep #'s, this was very welcomed!

Did 135x10/10/10/10/10 to work on form, and technique. Felt solid, next time I’ll up the weight for these 5x10’s.

After this, went to the park that is the home of my hill, ran 1 lap around the park, which is about a mile, and didn’t stop to walk! That’s an accompishment, I say!

After the lap, did 10 hill sprints. Ouch, my legs are screaming today. All is well though, I can tell they’re getting bigger and stronger, so that’s good.

So I’m seriously considering doing a PL meet for my 30th, instead of a marathon (thanks for the idea MiM!)

Just by calculating what my max’s would be using 5/3/1 for the rest of the year, and by 12/31, I should be in the range of SQ:315, B:320, DL:425 (1060 total). And the meet I’m looking at is the end of March, two weeks before my b-day, so I’m thinking I can add a little to each by then as well. I think an 1100 total would be achievable and I’d be happy with that. Also, it would be almost exactly 1 year of seriously training, and using 5/3/1.

So yeah, that’s where I’m at and what I’m thinking currently.

Ooooohhh PL meet!! You’ll need to get a PL suit with unicorns stitched on and maybe a little bedazzling on the heinie. When I say heinie, I mean the whole suit…I’m thinking Liberache style.

haha, thats cool… Good goal, good plans…

I’ve been wanting to do something too…I think getting lean is enough for now.

Hey FM, if I send it to you, will you bedazzle a bad ass unicorn on it? That’d be awesome!

MiM, thanks for the idea!

9-3-10 Deadlift “3” week

250x3
285x3
320x3 These didn’t go as strong or as tight as I had hoped for, but my diet was waaaaay off today. Off as in, I ate one meal at about 1pm, and that’s it for the whole day up until about an hour or two PWO. Not a good day for food timing!!

Followed with 295x2, but didn’t have any more gas left for 'em.

Pendlay rows
135x10
155x8x2
175x5

My version of a rack chin, using my ghetto fab rack
BWx10/10/8/6

Ran out of time, had to pick up the oldest from preschool. Won’t get any weights in over the next couple of days, going out of town, but come Labor Day I’m going to tear up some Military Press!

Today’s DL’s

nice deads!

and saving you from page 2

What makes you think for one mother loving second that I own a bedazzler? So much assumption.

Stop casting aspersions and get your deriere on that bench. NAO. Cheeky so and so.

Been a while, eh?

Well, this weekend I was out of town, managed to get a few miles jogged, ate decent too. Was slammed with homework too, so didn’t get any weights lifted, until today.

Military Press “3” week

Warmed up the shoulders good, with a bunch of light sets, working up to the start
130x3
145x3
165x4 This was a hard 4, had to really grind out the last one, and then I almost lost it coming down.

I also notice, from video, that something is going on between my left and right arms. When fully extended, my left hand is higher than my right. WTF is that about? Anyway…

Did 105x10/10/10/7+3push presses/6+4pp

Then grabbed a 30# db, did one arm OHP’s for two sets of 12
40# for 10 and 10.

Did a few sets of bb curls, and pinwheels to end it.

Overall was a good workout, shoulders were feeling full and beat down.

All systems go…and squats tomorrow.

A comparison of my back over a month and a half-ish

7/21/10

…and tonight, 9/8/10

awesome progress -

Thanks!

I’ve really noticed a difference in my arms, despite being smaller in diameter, they just look and feel better. Not to mention mah belly’s starting to go away.

Threw a tow strap over the pullup bar at work, did some close grip pullups with it for 6/5/5 then a set of widegrip with the strap, for 3, rack chins (no strap) for 15, and close grip chins for 7.

10 minute break…complete.

9-9-10 5/3/1 week Squats

Well, tonight started off alright, then went shitty, then came out decent in the end.

Squats
Warmup went smooth
185x5 Good
210x3 Heavy
235x1 FAIL! Got stapled. Took too long, and psyched myself out or some shit.

Reboot system
135x2
185x2
225x1
225x1
235x1 Gotcha, bitch

135x10/10/10

DB Lunges
30’s x 10/15/12

Leg Xtsn
90x20
100x20
110x20

Standing BB Calf raises
135x20/20 That’s it. I know, if I come back to hit calves after not hitting them at all for a long time (stupid, I know) I’ll be crippled for a week, so I’ll try to hit them a couple times a week with low volume, see how that works.

Sipped some Surge Workout Fuel diring the workout tonight, but I feel I should drink more of it a while before training, as I didn’t notice the drive to keep pushing until I was into the lunges. Just an observation.

Oh, and in other news, 211.8 this am

glad you didn’t let the funk of the first fail settle in. I usually use the anger to drive me through the next exercise.

how much weight have you lost so far? what’s you goal? sorry of this is a repeat. Told ya I’m to lazy to read back. lol

Well, I was 225 back at the end of May, and haven’t really been ‘on track’ until the last 6-8 weeks or so, so I’m down about 14 lbs. Although my weight has come down, I don’t really have an idea on my bf%, so I should really get some calipers and check that.

I guess my ultimate goal would be to weigh 225ish at around 10%.

And yes, the anger I felt from missing that (read: getting driven into the ground) 235 the first go, I had to just re-set my body and take another stab at it.

Bench Press 5/3/1

Warmup
210x5
235x3
265x1 and a fail. Won’t be doing anymore 5/3/1 bench weeks by myself anymore. Rolling 265 down a big gut isn’t fun!

CGBP
150x10/10/10/10/10

Incline BP
150x10/8/6/6

French Press
Barx20
65x15
80x12
95x5 (Triceps felt like exploding)

Bench Dips
BWx25
+40x15
+40x16 (went to failure)

Today’s workout was originally fueld by anger. Wife’s visiting her dying Grandfather (last grandparent she’s got) so I was watching the girls. My 4 year old decides to have the worst day ever. Listening? What’s that?! ‘Oh, you DON’T want me to drag my 9mo old sister around by her arm? Watch me!..Oh, how about I grab her and roll around with her, that’s cool right? What dad? You said “Stop it” and got really pissed off? How about I laugh in your face?’

Pretty much went like this for a while, until I lost my shit. Flipped out, yelled, threw her in her room, put baby down for a nap, then had to go back into oldest’s room to have her quit banging on the floor with the intention of making a shitload of noise.

So then I worked out, head wasn’t on straight because I felt horrible for freaking out, but I did it regardless. She just knows how to not only push my buttons, but smash them with Thor’s Hammer!

She has since been released from her room, after she cleaned it and is now cleaning up the play room.

Aren’t kids the BEST?!

sounds like a day i would drown in my beer. Cudos to you for turning that into a workout day non the less.

for the failed bench could you set yourself in your squat rack and use the pins? I’ve seen other’s do that.

by the way it’s stories like that that make me not want to have kids. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
