looks like fun!
considering I can’t even do 1 pullup at the moment, the idea if hauling my ass around verticaly is scary as hell. lol.

Bouldering (the style of climbing done in the video) is only done up about 10-12 feet or so, and takes pretty much every muscle group. Top rope climbing is about 45-50 feet usually, and when done right, uses a lot of legs to climb. The trick is to get your hands on the hold, and then stand up without pulling. Keeping your arms straight and using your legs prevents you from burning out super fast.
It’s fun, try it! I’m sure there are indoor rock gyms up around you
Weighted dips and pullups at work today, just for fun.
Using the 35# setup

I checked out your link and they are all in the other province so close would be a matter of point of view.
I did however find a place 20-30 minutes from my house depending on traffic. The thing is, this looks much more fun doing with other people than alone. I wonder if I could get my brother to hang out there with me (get it? ok, not funny. it must be bed time lol.)
N-Haha “hang out!” Damn you’re funny! It is more fun going with someone else, round up a friend or 5, or the hubby and go act like a monkey. Do it. You won’t regret it. (Well, you might, but in that case you can’t blame me!)
how much training did you do before hand?? I’m wondering if I would need a beginner class or somefin like it.

My brother in law had done it before, so he basically showed me the ropes. A beginner class would be awesome, you’d learn so much from it I’m sure. I still want to take a lesson, just to see what i can pick up and hopefully get better.
Squats tonight, finally. Took it “easy” tonight, as I was pressed for time and need to get a paper written.
Coan Week 5
135x5x2
175x3
205x2
215x5x2
155x20
Bottomed the bar out on the last rep of the second 215 work set, but still powered through it. Didn’t feel my quads at ALL this time, was all ass on every rep…or so I thought. I set up to do front squats, and the second my knees bent, my quads were like “Dude, WTF?” So I opted out of those and set up for BB hack squats.
Set the bar juuuust below the knee cap, which felt 1000x better than the last time I tried 'em.
185x10
205x10
225x10
That’s it. Quads are fried, glutes are burning, not bad.
In other news, I’ve decided to try to break 200 lbs by the end of the year. I am sitting around 210-212 most mornings, so I’m going to clean up the diet through the year, with the exception of the Christmas meal.
No junk.
Do more cardio.
(Keep) Lifting heavy.
No problem…right?
enjoying the coan routine?

Oh yeah man, lovin it actually. I find that I’m probably pushing about 85-90% effort on my last rep, with always having a little something left in the tank. Thanks for suggesting it, I will continue using it for squats and with bench until one stops progressing. Not that i see that happening anytime soon though.
Legs are pretty sore today, even doing the little volume I did last night.
How’d you like the Hacks?
Pullups
+5lbs for 5, +18lbs for 5, +35lbs for 5, BW for 8 (easy after dropping the 35lbs off my waist)
Going to continue doing weighted ones for a while, although I need to search for something else to add to mah chain at work. Maybe some of the feral cats that run around out back?

Tell you what, with that shortened ROM, I loved them. I used a couple of step-up boxes the wife had from a workout dvd a long time ago, so they aren’t the sturdiest of things. I felt like I was going to crack them.
I’ll probably build up something out of 2x4’s and plywood, but for now they’ll do. I could have probably repped in the the high 200’s, and they really hit my quads perfectly. Thanks brah
Good stuff. When you get something sturdier there are all kinds of variations you can use for specific areas of the quads…more discetion. haha
And, that dieting for the month…try the “green face” thing from here. I’m doing that right now. It looks solid.

Sweet potato cooked? Microwave? boiled and mashed?
Explain yourself.
Bake it. then blend it with the milk and cheese…use cinnamon and almonds to tp it with.
So in doing a little research, I found another meet next year, that is taking place the same weekend as the one I was already planning on doing. The difference is that this one isn’t a regional championship with an assload of people, and it’s 100% raw. There’s the full meet, and push/pull, bench only, and even a “strict curl” competition. I was debating on just doing the push/pull because my squat is so weak, but then I figure “fuck it”, and get a real total damnit! Looking at past results from this meet in the past couple of years, I’m not too far off from the other guys in the same age/weight class as myself, so if that stays the same, it could be interesting to maybe beat some guys and not be the weakest guy there.
I’ll kick some ass, no doubt about that.
As for training…bench press tonight.
getting a total is the first step towards blowing through it.
