So in doing a little research, I found another meet next year, that is taking place the same weekend as the one I was already planning on doing. The difference is that this one isn’t a regional championship with an assload of people, and it’s 100% raw. There’s the full meet, and push/pull, bench only, and even a “strict curl” competition. I was debating on just doing the push/pull because my squat is so weak, but then I figure “fuck it”, and get a real total damnit! Looking at past results from this meet in the past couple of years, I’m not too far off from the other guys in the same age/weight class as myself, so if that stays the same, it could be interesting to maybe beat some guys and not be the weakest guy there.
I’ll kick some ass, no doubt about that.
As for training…bench press tonight.[/quote]
I think you should be honest with your faithful readers and tell them all that you really registered for the “strict curl” competition…
N-You’re totally right about that. I’ll do the full thing, and maybe even enter the strict curl part just for Court!
Tonight’s training was pretty good. I didn’t get started until a little after 9 but didn’t feel tired at all, which is definitly a good thing.
Bench Press
135x5x2
175x3
215x5x2
I didn’t want to do too much before my main sets, and I really focused hard on my form, which felt solid as hell.
2 Board Bench Press (That’s right, someone decided to finally make something!)
185x5 Easy
215x5 Not as easy
235x5 Heavy, but good.
Took a short pause on all reps, felt awesome and my triceps got some work in today.
Decline Bench Press
135x10 (Since it’s been a long time since doing these, wanted to feel it out first)
185x8/6/10 (Got a burst of energy before my last set from somewhere)
Incline DB Flyes
25’s x 15/12+3/10+5
The “+3 and +5” were after taking a few seconds (10 max) to rest while holding the weights up.
That’s it, felt great and will definitly use more boards in the future.

I’ve been checking out the same stuff. My primary goal is not to be DFL my first meet.
Today’s break included weighted forklift dips. Wanting to get something a little heavier than last time, I searched around the shop. “Oh hello there, Mr. 5 gallons of paint! Why yes you’ll do just fine!”

Yeah man, if I beat SOMEONE…then I’ll be happy. That and getting all white lights!
N - Trust me when I say that my shirt is definitely adding to the pic, without it…not so much
Kalle - Thanks man. I can be awesome on occasion, although it is somewhat of a rarity. I’m down for the challenge thread again!
Nikki - Thanks for noticing. I’ve also just started the “Green Faces Diet” that Rock pointed me to, yesterday. I’m going to try and run that through the end of the year, in effort to get under 200lbs. It’ll get done, oh yes it will. And I’m nothing if not crafty, that’s for sure!
12-4-10 Deadlift 5/3/1
Form was feeling a bit off and couldn’t get real dialed in, probably from having super low carb intake and it being late (again). Sipped Surge Recovery as suggested through the workout for some carbs, and it did help me out with my energy levels as the workout progressed.
Warmup
135x5x2
225x5
275x5 Moderately heavy
315x3 Heavy
350x4 Really damn heavy. Saw stars, got lightheaded, took a set for a minute.
BB Rows
185x8x4
Pendlay Rows
155x10
175x10
185x8 (+3rep PR)
Rack Pulls (Shouldn’t have put these after to rowing, lower back was not havin it)
225x5
275x3
Shrugs
275x20
275x15 (Hands were killing me and energy levels dropping fast)
Rack chins
Pronated Grip
BW x 10
+30lbs x 10
Supinated
BW x 10 x 2
That’s it.
Gotta go for a long run tomorrow morning, and I’ll either do my OHP’s tonight or tomorrow sometime.
Thanks N, I should give myself a little credit sometimes, eh?
Court, thanks for that. That made me lol.
Today I ran 7 miles. I haven’t gone that far on foot since bootcamp 11 years ago. I did some walking, but pushed myself through and did it. Cardiovascularly, I got the endurance but my legs got pretty tired after 4.
I feel great and I’m about to make a mean ham omelette to celebrate.
I’m down 2 lbs in 3 days of “dieting”. It’s not hard , just not that convenient when I’m on the run with a busy life schedule. I will hit 200 by the years end. You can bet on that!
Dinner didn’t do shit in regards to my workout tonight. I think it’s a combination of it being late, having a lazy day all day, and the feeling like I need to be quiet because nearly right above the gym is now my sister in law who is going to be staying with us for a while since she’s leaving her husband (long story) but I don’t know…I couldn’t get motivated to save my ass tonight.
Got military presses in:
bar x 20
135 x 10
155 x 6
175 x 2(Failed on 3)
Then I just didn’t have anything left. I attempted to do handstand pushups but couldn’t throw my feet up to the wall quietly, and I decided to just say “screw it”
I’ll either do pressing and shoulders or something tomorrow or I’ll squat if my legs are fully recovered from Saturday’s run.
