soldog - Thanks for dropping by again, it is always a pleasure. Do you also do BJJ, or another form of martial arts? Thank you I will have a blast! What part of CO are you in? You a Broncos fan? I am.
mrodock - You are extremely intuitive, I think that is a major part of it, thank you for pointing it out. I appreciate it, I hope to figure out things with my neck also, it has been 9 years this November since the accident, you’d think I would be over it by now, weak assed body! I’m praying that I figure something out, never tried the ROLFing thing, I wonder if that would work.
I did some mobility stuff today and to include the internal rotation thing in Tony’s new article and some shoulder dislocates, I’ll likely foam roll today.

I studied American style Karate throughout the 80’s and have restarted studying for the last 3 years in the Wado Kai style. I live west of Denver in the front range mountains. Don’t watch much football any more but when I do I try to catch the Bronco’s.

That is pretty cool soldog. I took a few classes as a kid but only until it cost money. This is the first time I’ve trained a lot. I fought a lot as a kid and a teen, but that is about it.
Last night I went to smoke a cigar with a friend and actually smoked two. One Carlos Torano and one Flor de Oliva, they were great. I walked back to my office sat down did my time card and then puked my guts out. I don’t know if it was the tobacco or what, but it was not pleasant!
I proceeded to go down that road until 1 am and then woke up at 7am to fix my network as it was down and was able to take a short nap before training. I feel and felt weak, but got 'er done!
DB curls 30’sX17,5,4 last time I used 25’s
Pinwheel curls 25’sX12,7,7 +5 reps from last time
Barbell King DL 155X7 for 2 straight sets long rest, last time was 135X10,10 and 155x6
Barbell Back squat 225x8 and 7 then 155x20 these were straight sets, last time it was 225X6 and 6 then 135X20
It is tough to do 4 sets to failure on legs and then do a 20 rep squat. That 20 reps might have been 25reps, I got to 11 and didn’t believe that I got that many and so I started at 6 again. It was either 20 or 25 reps, by the end it felt like 25. I wanted to die rather than get the last three reps. I had it in my mind that Ouroburo had a great training session the other day and then did a 20 rep squat of 135 and that motivated me and made me feel like such a whimp! I figure I’d rather be dead than weak. It has been 1 hour and 15 minutes and my body is still shaking.

damn you people with your 20 rep squats! nice work!
re cigars and puking: sounds more like a fast acting bug since it lasted for hours. my tobacco days are gone now for 2.5 years but I do remember a fine cigar or pipe quite fondly.
They are called Widowmakers by the DC folks and they are. The program calls for them, I’m just following the program. I hate them, they make me nervous, they make you question yourself, they are insane and they will help you sleep better at night. Actually after your body stops shaking you can sleep in the middle of the day. In the Super Squats program by Strossen you would take your 10 rep max and take breaths between reps until you finish. I did it once about 5 years ago and added inches to my thighs and ass. It is intense.
With this training you obviously can not take your 10 rep max and do it after doing two sets of failure in a hamstring exercise and then two sets of failure in a quad exercise, so you guess what you are able to do and hell body weight would be tough by then of coarse I would never allow that.
My C training has me do reverse lunges for 20 reps, all the unilateral work has me doing twice the sets which is a total bitch. I always find unilateral work taxing for that reason. Last time I did the reverse lunges for 20 I did it with body weight only, I’ll likely move up to the very large 5lbs db’s next, WATCH OUT!
If you are having trouble getting your legs to grow, the high reps seem to make them grow.
I love cigars, I have a nice little humidor here and have some good cigars in it, I smoke once or twice a week, one week I had a friend here and smoked everyday with him, but that is rare and at times I go a week or two with no smoking. I love a nice strong cup of coffee with a cigar.
Whatever the puking was, I’m glad it is over, it was not fun! It filled my nose full of meat.
Last night I rolled with the instructor and did well, we had fun, he did not leave yet, but got the call last night. So that was the last time to roll with him until I come back from vacation in August. He told me that I’ll be very tough when I master a few more moves and that he is looking forward to rolling with me when I do.

If the gym I belonged to suddenly got rid of their 1, 2, and 3 pound dumbbells I would tear up my contract.

You really toughed it the hell out after that puke session. You have a lot to be proud of.
“If the gym I belonged to suddenly got rid of their 1, 2, and 3 pound dumbbells I would tear up my contract.”
“Wow that nose full of meat sounds terrible!”
“You really toughed it the hell out after that puke session. You have a lot to be proud of.”
That was very funny, some of the weights I use are just sad!
I’m pretty sure the nose was not meant for food unfortunately that happens every time I yak.
Thank you I appreciate that greatly. I look at it like this, it isn’t going to hurt me, I have to look in the mirror and like what I see (character wise, mentally, emotionally, and physically) and if I don’t fight through it then I’ve suffered another set back. Most dedicated athletes do that, you do it, modi does it, alpha does it. The women in Powerful Women put us to shame at times, I’m no different than you guys leading from the front.
I will say, I’ve finally learned not to train when it will hurt me further, but if it is only a matter of comfort…I’m TRAINING!
I did not use epic weights but it was epic compared to last time I did this session.
Incline DB Press 55X16,6,5 +5lbs ea db from last time
L-Raise 20X17,11,8 +7 reps
Floor Press DB’s 55X17,7,7 +10 reps
Lat. Pulldown 120X20,8,6 +5 reps
Rack pull above knee 315x20 and 405x15 Straight sets (last time it was 405x8 and 8)
Then I did 100 reps of lateral pitcher raises w/5lbs and then 0lbs
I’m going to do 100 reps of lateral raises every hour this evening, I did one set already with 5g or L-Leucine and 7 grams creatine before and then 1 beta alanine pill and 1 scoop Surge recovery afterward. This will be the protocol for the rest of the night, except the last two and I’ll have low carb whey instead of Surge recovery.
I think this will blow my shoulders up. At the end of the night I’ll go for a long walk and then take L-leucine and creatine only.
I’ll be leaving Thursday or Friday to start my trip home. I first take two military aircraft to get to Dubai and the I’ll take commercial from there.
I have demons that disappear when I am in the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a place we take refuge. It is a place where the only fear we have is not working hard enough, not facing the one in the mirror, not sweating enough, not bleeding, not giving it everything we have to give.
The demons that chase us everyday disappear, the only demon in the sanctuary are the ones that we invite in. The only scars in the sanctuary are the ones we earn, the ones we want to keep, the trophies of battles won and lost, the war to be won. The only pain in the sanctuary is the pain of success. The pain that heals, that restores, that makes us better.
The angels, the statues, the places of worship are objects that normal people cannot understand, cannot lift, and cannot take refuge in. Only the blessed can love our sanctuary of iron and steel, only the enlightened can take refuge in this place of pain. The only failure, in our place of refuge, is to never try hard enough to fail. We try never to fail, yet we push hard enough to where failure is inevitable.
Pain is our friend, scars are our trophies of glory, muscles of granite are the show for our work our dedication and our tribute to success. Success is never to be reached except momentarily, always striving for more, for better, for perfection. Perfection is never to be reached, yet we always strive to obtain it. The sanctuary is always there, always calling our name, always a tribute to the one in the mirror.
Alpha,
Thanks bro. I’m in Qatar hanging out on base, been here three days now waiting for my civilian flight out. I’m going to stay a few nights in town starting tonight.
As stated above I’ve been in Qatar a few days, I believe this is the hottest place on earth and I actually like that now. I used to be a cold weather boy, but now my body thinks 70F is cold. I don’t know the official degree here, but it is hotter than a goats ass. I’m hanging out on base saving money, they have a pool, a gym, we are rationed three beers a day and a bunk bed. The chow hall is open 24/7 and the food is decent.
Last night I hit the gym followed the DC template and I’ll do the same tomorrow night. I was weak as fuck last night, but shitty sleep and a new environment can make the body feel weak. The strength that Alpha has and his ability to adapt is comendable.
Once I hit the U.S. I’ll probably hit a gym again before I get the kids and after that it will be pushups, pullups, lunges and throwing kids around in the pool and such. They love to wrestle. At night I’ll practice my choke holds to put them to sleep. J/K kind of.
I hope all is well with my friends. Take care of yourselves, love and appreciate your loved ones and train hard!

Wish you save travels! The choke holds comment cracked me up pretty good.
Did another DC inspired session today, might do the next one tonight before bed so that I can get another in before the trip from hell. Also, want to keep as much muscle as possible. I kicked and hit the heavy bag for some conditioning and toughening this afternoon. I absolutely love kicking the bag!
I’ve laid out at the pool a few times, drank some alcohol yesterday, went to a club for a bit and have just been relaxing. Good stuff.
soldog thank you very much, your well wishes are much appreciated, keep up the hard work
I leave tonight at midnight. I need to pack and take a nap.
I was not able to hit the gym last night again because the gym closed at 10pm, but I hit is this morning and had a decent session. The gym is halfway decent for a hotel gym and the only equipment others are using are cardio machines. I ran out of protein, so I’m eating very little here. I’ll walk to Chili’s sometime again today, that was last nights meal a cajun rib eye, garlic potatoes and broccoli. Good stuff.
Just wanted to say hello and let all know I’m safe and sound. I have a new job pending which will allow me to be home more, but I’ll have to sign a contract which will disallow me from being on social networking sites, posting on threads and all that fun stuff.
I guess this is goodbye.
Take care, you’ll be missed. I’ll be lurking and reading along.
