Injuries Suck

I just reached some of my best workouts of the year, putting up new PR after new PR. FEeling super human, After my last leg session on sunday, MOnday morning I awoke to a very very sore shoulder. I haven’t had any shoulder pain in many many years. Even doing heavy over head presses etc etc.
THE worst part I traced the injury to doing to heavy CALF RAISES. I was doing the stack on calves and I think I compressed my trap clavical area. !!! It pissed me off so much to get hurt not even doing heavy presses or deadlifts.
I was so pissed since it was slated to be my chest and back day.

I took two days off, and decided to just go in and train back light (no chest), high rep tri sets. Damm I was so weak I was so bothered I did 3 quick rounds and got the fuck out of there.

So Im pissed off cant train 100% !!! I hate when you reach anew best and are thrown down with un expected injuries.!!!

Don’t be pissed that you injured it doing calf raises. At least it won’t take any confidence away from doing a more serious compound movement like deadlifts when you return to full strength! You need every bit of confidence you can get for tough lifts. Calf raises don’t take as much effort!

Yes, injuries do suck. I’ve been held back for years by them! Only now are they all completely healed. Be thankful that it seems to be short term. Learn from it as much as you can. The last thing you want to do is to have a body part taken out of the game for over a year because of a mistake. Once you’re addicted to the iron, an inability to move heavy shit affects much more than your progress in the gym. Don’t find out for yourself, take my word for it!

lol injuries are part of the game everyone gets them, sounds like your injury isn’t even serious at all. Some of the people on here have had actual serious injuries that put them out for months or longer. Don’t worry the body heals and you will make your gains again.

I hurt my right shoulder overdoing it on the first rep of a set of barbell hacks over a year ago and it still nags me. I felt it pull as I got the bar off the floor.

At least its not a lower back injury like I have.

I have the same thing going on right now. Haven’t been able to touch a weight for 6 weeks. It’s hell.

I broke my hand. Think about how bad that sucks. I feel fine to do anything, I just cant grip with my right hand since its swollen up the size of a tennis ball.

I seperated my shoulder last fall, the only thing I managed to do was squat on monday, and leg press on thurs. My squat 1RM went up by bout 40lbs. but my bench max went down 40lbs lol, now its actually balanced

Same thing here. Hurt my lower back and I think my s/i joint yesterday doing deadlifts with sore hams and put all the weight into my back. Stupid.

Can’t imagine 06 weeks off from weights though. I seriously feel for you - that must be agony.

Yeah, I tore a tendon in my left leg.

Put me out for 6 months.

Talk about hell…

For those of you with joint problems I blew a knee, had surgery years ago, but still have some pain, my Doc started me on hyalgan injections, they are 1 per week for 3 weeks and its like having “new” knees for about 9-12 months, and you don’t have the over use/injury issues normally associated with cortisone shots!
Just my $0.02

Well I have had 3 knee surgaries in my life and to shoulder dislocations also. So I do KNOW REAL injuries.

IM SO fucking pissed, I took three days off came back and did a mild chest back workout, not muc h pain just a bit sore,
took off one more day.

DId legs today,

was warming up with deadlift to see how it felt, got to 225 something happened in my lower back, fuck it twinged I did extra warm up stretches thought I got it out, and did 315 for a quick 8 I instincively knew it was the last set . I then did a bull shit leg press leg extention workout and seated calves.

FUCK my back is twinged I dont have the money to drop on ART Im so pissed right now I wanted to hit every single person in the gym straight in the face but I couldnt’ stand up straight! There all idiots so dont judge me.

FUCK Just when I got my latest supps from tnation, just when I was ripping apart PRs. dammitt i havent had an injuries in like fifteen months. FUCK ME.

So tommorrow , acupuncture to open the muscles, then get in to see my ART guy, which is booked li ke years in advance, then a deep tissue massage that should do it. if not Im gonna go ballistic.

the worst part was my strength as I was warming up was feeling so good I felt really refreshed barely anything then bam twinge. I did my usual warmup round house kicks hip flexor stretches, adductor stretchs, hams, glutes etc.

Just venting. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
