Just saw it last night. Really enjoyed it. Went alone for the afternoon matinee and was one of only about five people in the theater. I would watch this again and I usually don’t care to do that with just about any movie.
Even though Pitt’s character was funny his acting just wasn’t there. Part of it was his horribly rendered southern accent. As a native born southerner I simply can’t stand fake southern accents in films.
Christoph Waltz did a superb job with the Landa character. Wow!
Melanie Laurent (Shosanna Dreyfus) was drop dead gorgeous and her acting was fantastic too!
Did the same thing Monday. And I agree to some extent on Pitt’s performance (though not necessarily because of the accent). It’s always hit and miss with him. During his first scene, he seemed to be “acting”… however as the movie went on it either got better or I just didn’t notice. I thought he was funny as hell though (especially when pretending to be Italian).

What part of the south do you claim to be from?
FL, NC, and TX. Why did you use the verb “claim”?
It was not the best Southern accent.
Plus Brad Pitt is getting to the point where I don’t see characters anymore, I see Brad Pitt. Or Tyler Durden. But not some WWII officer.

Saw the film today and I thought exactly the same thing. I’m not sure if he does get better, or if you just get too pulled into the film to notice.
Push. What did you like about the movie? I know you said Shosanna and the Jew Hunter. What did you like about the plot?
I still maintain that the plot idea was just thin. How hard is it to make a movie where people despise Nazis? Come on, that’s a guaranteed sentiment and hence why I feel it’s similar to a cheap parlor trick.
I liked the bar scene.
Brad Pitt plays oddball roles very well, BUT, as with most Hollywood actors, I see the actor and not the character.
For this reason I prefer films where I don’t know the lead actors and even moreso if I don’t know ANY of the actors.
