You don’t ever back up anything you say ZEB, and that doesn’t mean it isn’t correct, but for me, I like to learn, and when you constantly provide condescending opinion-based answers, it doesn’t help prove your point.

So I assume that the answer to my question is no. Otherwise you would most likely spouted off about it. So, just answer “no” next time. It’s easier, and it’s more direct than returning a question with a question. No?
On the contrary I usually back up what I have to say. Take a walk over to the the JW thread and take a look. That isn’t a bad example of stuffing a lot of information in a few posts. But sometimes I don’t take the time to back up what I say because I take into account who I’m speaking with and it becomes crystal clear to me that the person is just not worth it.
No, you’re correct in my previous post I was taking a step or two back and marveling at how naive your answers were. Sorry, but there’s really no other way to put it. You started talking about the current economic situation of the US. When in fact I was referring to the economic power house that the US has been for over 200 years. When you comeback with stuff like that well…you can’t expect me to be leaping for joy that I have the privilege to speak to you. Fair enough?
Now before you come “right back at me” think about the richness (in so many ways) of the USA. It was little Ryan who compared us to Cuba. As that was his socialist utopia. So take it from there google Cuba’s economy, their schools, medical care, human rights etc.
And the next time you want to be outraged because I was condescending and called you junior first think about what provoked such a response. Do you share any blame? Did you deserve that comment? Were you showing just a little naivete? You want to debate how great the USA is as compared to Cuba, or any other country? Fine we can do that. Pick any socialist country you’d like.
Let me know where you want to go. I’ll do my best to keep up with you.
Ok Zeb, would you mind providing what you consider to be factually reliable required reading or other available sources of information, so that I may understand these subjects as well as you do.

Look at your debt, you lead the pack. You spend and borrow the most, that’s for certain.
+$13 trillion.
WHERE, JACKASS?!! You constantly say this, yet you haven’t done it one single time. I asked you to quote your post where you allegedly did, and you didn’t do it (of course, I knew you didn’t do it…), so what does that tell you?
“Not worth it,” is ZEB’s way of saying the person he is speaking to has half a brain and asks to see the facts his statements are based off of, which he can never find, and so he pouts.
The US hasn’t been an economic powerhouse for 200 years. It’s been a powerhouse for about 60, since the end of WWII.
Once again,
I never said it was utopia, you made that up
you refuse to address the fact that Cuba has done better under socialism DESPITE a near total blockade by the US (which, to be fair, you may not have known about).
ZEB, you need to document (that is, provide a link containing statistics or other facts) SOMETHING you say. I’ve done it, now Matty has done it, but you still have not, despite lying about it multiple times. Otherwise, we will continue to laugh at you.

Better than what? Gee, you’re so exact and descriptive, your professors would be so disappointed with you. Would you like to tell us all what country Cuba (LOL CUBA!) is doing better than? Or do you just want to let that hang out there because you are unable to back it up? And I do wonder about the many Cubans that escaped Cuba via a boat, raft, refrigerator door, basically anything that would float. In order to come to the greatest nation on the face of the earth - land of the free and home of the brave AMERICA!
One more thing little Ryan - Why is it that you’ve not taken me up on my offer to pay your way to Cuba so that you can live in this socialist utopia that is (in your opinion) better than the USA?
Could it be that you’re merely a message board blow hard that is till wet behind the ears? Or, is it because mommy and daddy wouldn’t pay your tuition to Havana U? LOL
Try harder little Ryan - You only have a few weeks left before it’s back to school. And then we won’t see you around here any longer.
Ah, but you’ve supplied us with plenty of amusement so it’s all good.

Yes, of course the USA is capitalist, and to even ask the question demonstrates profound ignorance.
Run along junior, the grown ups are talking…

He removed the photo of Karl Marx. It must be that mommy or daddy saw it and gave him some heat. Maybe he better move the computer from his room to the basement so he can have some privacy?

Who knows, his parents could be douchebags too. Perhaps they’re overjoyed with their little douchebag prodigy? hahahahaha!

Yea, last time I checked, Cuba doesn’t have an immigration problem. LOL
While I firmly disagree with Ryan, and think he is a bit arrogant and trenchant at times (but sweet Jesus who isn’t on this forum), at least he is supplying some level of researched and thought out responses. You have to give him credit for that. Same to MattyG who is genuinely inquiring and providing sources for his questions and opinions, so good on him for that too.
The level of discourse going on right now from everyone else is appalling. This is the equivalent of just trying to shout each other down and providing no critical thought or edifying rebuttals. Free markets need clear, reasoned and reasonable advocates, not thugs.
This is (in)directly related to this specific thread, ie I feel it can be applied in other areas.
Sometimes I forget that whoever I am talking to, that they don’t know what I (think I) know, just as I don’t know what they (think they) know, that’s why I like sources or more drawn out explanations, so I can understand better. Everyone has something to teach.
What gets under my skin the most is similar to an explanation that my older brother would give me when I was much younger; I would ask him a question, his answer would just be ‘Because’, and it just pissed me off so much, b/c he’s saying he’s right w/o any explanation, like ‘Just take my word for it’, so how am I to come to those same conclusions without the foundation of what those conclusions are based on?
I think it’s better for everyone to have their conclusions/opinions be drawn out better, to show how whatever you’ve read/discussed/contemplated/studied/etc to come the conclusions that you have. Also, to be more specific with the meanings you’re implying with the words you’re using. Not everyone associates the same things to identical words.
Ryan P. McCarter wrote:
there ARE NO socialist countries, except possibly Cuba.
(Jaw dropping to floor) All you can come up with is Cuba? Is that why so many from Cuba risk life and limb to ride refrigerator doors across the ocean to get to America?
WHahaha Ryan I’m done with you - You’ve got nothing but shallow ideas of how things ought to be. Plenty of criticism and absolutely nothing to back it up. Mere words cannot make up for the incredible success that the US has been for the past 234 years.
You’re a kid and you prove it every time you post.
CUBA? LOL
Actually, not that many do. Again, if you knew anything about the subject, you’d know this. The emigration rate from Cuba is comparable to other countries in Latin America. They produce more doctors per capita than any other country in Latin America, and their medical professionals engage in humanitarian work all over the world. AIDS is 1/6 as common there as in the US:
They have the biggest biotechnology industry in the Carribbean, and sell to countries including China, Malaysia, India, and Iran:
“According to the United Nations, the rate of literacy among people 15 and older in Cuba was 97%, compared to 99% in Canada and the United States, 96% in Costa Rica, and 83% in the Dominican Republic.”
“Cuba’s achievements in social development are impressive given the size of its gross domestic product per capita. As the human development index of the United Nations makes clear year after year, Cuba should be the envy of many other nations, ostensibly far richer. [Cuba] demonstrates how much nations can do with the resources they have if they focus on the right priorities - health, education, and literacy.”
– Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, April 11, 2000
And all of this under the crushing 50-year economic blockade perpetrated by the United States. You understand that the most powerful nation in the world is doing everything it can to sabotage Cuba’s economy, right? You understand that it makes it impossible for Cuba to trade for many things they need, even with countries other than the US, right?
Is it even hard to believe that the US has been systematically lying for years about the conditions in Cuba? In the past the months, Wikileaks has revealed that the US has been covering up tens of thousands of civilian deaths in the mideast, perpetrated and turned a blind eye toward torture, secretly deployed civilian-slaughtering cruise missiles in Yemen, illegally spied on UN diplomats, and bullied other countries into accepting unfavorable terms in negotiations.
Is it surprising that people like John Bolton would lie about Cuba, and then try to fire officials who speak out against their lying?
With the US government’s literally unprecedented record of deception and manipulation, why is it so hard to believe that they would lie about Cuba too?
You say you’re “done with me,” (as if you had actually attempted to debate to begin with) and I suspect this post won’t change your mind. You haven’t even begun to respond to my many documented corrections to your previous statements, so why would you address these either?
But it would benefit you to take some time to think about who really needs to grow up here. Me, who simply states facts, and supports them, or you, who has spent pages denying them, with NO support whatsoever?
I urge you, do not ignore this: please explain to me why anyone ought to even take you seriously when you have produced NO response to numerous corrections of your statements.
You ignored this about 10 pages ago, dumbass. This is why you’re so often laughed at.
It’s because it’s illegal. I can’t go there. Or is that another thing you didn’t know?
Please, keep it coming ZEB. It’s hilarious watching you strut around making an ass of yourself, and not even realizing it.
“Haha! I just got destroyed in an argument AGAIN but I’m gonna laugh and pretend I won! It’ll keep people from noticing that I haven’t actually said anything! HAHA!”
