You shouldn’t be “ready to die.” All you said was that you train arms directly, on a BODYBUILDING WEBSITE. If somebody gets pissed at you for that, then that’s pretty fucked up.
Yeah, but I’ve seen so much “Direct training is overtraining for such small muscle groups, all you need is rows and bench and you’re arms will be HUGE in a few days” shit that It seems that if anyone even mentions curls they might be jumped in a dark alley… and then raped… repeatedly.
Granted, there are some techniques and programs which could yield such results, but that only works for so long, and in most cases doesn’t work as good as traditional bodypart training or for certain people. But some people can pull it off, so more power to them. If I want to grow, I need direct stimulation, much like achieving an erection without thinking dirty thoughts.
If you are training your arms directly, do isolation moves like curls and tricep extensions after you do compound moves like the close grip bench press or narrow grip chin-ups. Then when you get to isolation exercises later on in your workout try using drop sets where you lift the heaviest weight you can for 5 reps, then drop down to a lower weight that allows you to do only 5 reps, then maybe drop down again to a weight that allows you to do only 5 reps.
Don’t use drop setting as an excuse to quit early but as a way to work up to weights you wouldn’t think about doing 8-12 reps with.

and my diet sucks to be honest.
i am out with friends, at school or at work all the time, so never have time for proper meals.
could do with advice on that too.

So you “work out” “about 3 times a week”. Try training instead. Also try exactly 3 times a week.
WRT diet, it is obvious that being out with friends is a higher priority for you than setting aside time to organize a proper diet. Until that changes, there is little anyone can do to help you. You will just have to live with suboptimal nutrition and suboptimal results.
Note that this is an observation, NOT a criticism. That is your choice and you have every right to choose that way.

I am truly willing to bet that most of the people claiming you should avoid all direct arm exercises have smaller arms. I will keep doing what works…which for me is giving arms their own day.

My arms are rather small. However, since beginning to train them directly one day a week, they are getting larger. For that reason I will continue this practice until it stops working. Seems to make sense to me.
