Anyone have any experience/knowledge with the skin on the shin or forearm bruising from long distance walking/running? Is this a side-effect of “shin-splints” or unrelated?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

My first thought is that perhaps there is blood pooling somewhere…? (Could be way off!)
Never heard of it - it’s definately not normal.
Are you sure you didn’t just bump into something and not remember, though, or does it happen all the time?

A client of mine has been getting them for about 20 years now. She says a doctor told her they were “impact bruises” from a walking/running for a long time/distance on a hard surface.
I just don’t see how this can affect the surface of the skin, but I suppose if the bone/muscle is injured severely enough, you can see bruises “through” the skin (but, they would not be skin contusions…?). I make sure she walks on a forgiving surface, never jogging (as she weighs 220ish). I think she might want to do more bike/elliptical work. I also think she might be pre-osteoporosis…?
What do you guys think???
Thanks,
TS
