Imbalance Corrections: Jason Norcross

Jason,I’ve been using a 5x5 protocol that you posted a while back with great success. However, after reading the Booming Biceps article in paper mag 8, I would like to work towards correcting some imbalances that I feel I have. The routine you posted consisted of 3 core exercises at 5x5, followed by 2 circuits of 4-6 exercises at 10 reps. I was wondering if you thought it would be a good idea to use some of the exercises listed in the article in place of the 2 circuits. Or if you can think of a better way to incorporate these exercises, please share your thoughts. Thanks for your anticipated response.

Well, it is hard to say exactly how best to incorporate these exercises. Some of them (snatch deadlift, push press) would best be used as one of the core 5x5 exercises. For the others (and I don’t know which ones you want to use), just ditch the circuit and do the exercises as Alessi recommends. If you find that the volume on the 5x5 core exercises is too high, cut out an exercise or drop to 2-3 sets while you add other exercises.

Thanks Jason. That’s kinda what I planned. I appreciate your assistance.
